19 killed as ship capsizes in Brazil


Brasilia, Aug 24 (IANS): At least 19 people were and 30 reported missing after a ship carrying about 70 people capsized in Brazil, the authorities said.

The ship capsized on Wednesday in the Xingu river in Para state in the Amazonian region, Xinhua news agency reported.

Local media reported that the ship had left on Monday night from Santarem and was heading to Vitoria de Xingu.

About 25 people have been rescued so far.
