Mangalore: M D Mallya Appointed CMD of Bank of Baroda

Mangalore, May 21: M D Mallya has taken over as the chairman and managing director (CMD) of Bank of Baroda on May 7. Prior to this, he was the CMD of Bank of Maharastra.

 M D Mallya was born in 1952 in Mangalore and studied in Canara High School an St Aloysius PU College in the city before securing his BE degree from Karnataka Regional Engineering College Suratkal.

He has also done his post-graduation in management from Indian Institute of science, Bangalore with distinction. As CMD of Bank of Maharastra he has played an active role in bank making rapid strides in all spheres, such as business growth, technology, HR, organization restructuring, etc. His tenure as executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce was marked by several new initiatives and providing leadership inputs, merger of erstwhile Global Trust Bank (GTB) with OBC.

He started his banking career by joining the Corporation Bank in August 1976, a career spanning over 31 years and acquired rich experience in banking at various positions and assignments

He has been holding various position in committees of Indian Banks Association, National Institute of Bank Management and others.
