Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada Bags 8 Ranks in CET

Mangalore, May 26: The results of the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2008 were announced here on Saturday May 24 by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) in which more than 11,000 students have secured eligibility to medical and dental colleges and over 54,000 students for engineering courses.
Six students from the undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district were among the top 10 rank holders in the medical division while three students of undivided DK bagged 3 ranks in the engineering division.
35,897 students were qualified for the Indian Medical Homeopathy Course, 516 students for architecture. The rank list has been posted on the website and at all the 218 examination centers across the state.
Sunil Badami, student of PDC Pre-University College, Bijapur secured the first rank in the medical division while N Vasuki, student of Adarsh College, Chamarajapet in Bangalore bagged the first rank in engineering.
Shipha, Anwith and Aron among the CET rank holders from DK
Four students of Canara Pre University College, Mangalore secured ranks in the medical and engineering divisions and 3 students of Sri Satya Sai Lok Seva Pre University College, were also among the 10 rank holders in the medical division.
The results were announced on the basis of a yardstick for eligibility that was published in the CET 2008 handbook. The scanned OMR answer sheets of all the candidates and the evaluation report were posted on KEA website besides uploading the category-wise details of all the candidates.
Counseling from Jun 2:
CET 2008 results were delayed owing to the delay in announcing of results by CBSE by 10 days. Accordingly, the counseling process for seat sharing will begin from June 2.
Those candidates who will appear for counseling are advised to check their results, in order to make sure there are no errors and if any clarifications are needed are requested to bring the same to the notice of KEA, said S G Hegde, CEO of KEA.
The results of a few candidates are with-held since they have not enclosed their PUC marks cards. They can get the status of their results by faxing the copies their marks cards by Monday May 26 to KEA, he added.
Revaluation results:
Out of 9,200 students who applied for revaluation of their II PUC results, the revaluation of PCMB students have already been completed and their results will be declared within a week. Besides, if there is a significant increase in marks on revaluation of II PUC papers, CET ranking will be awarded to such candidates, Hegde informed.
Out of the total students of 1, 33,354 who appeared for CET 2008, 63,988 are boys and 47,366 are girls. There are 58 migrant candidates from Jammu and Kashmir. Eighty candidates have bagged ranks in engineering while 26 candidates have bagged ranks in the medical category.
