Mangaluru: Grand immersion marks culmination of Ganeshotsava celebrations

Mangaluru, Sep 3: A grand immersion procession was taken out at the end of 'Ganeshotsava' organized at the central Maidan here by Hindu Yuvasene on the night of Saturday September 2. This happened to be 25th annual Ganeshotsava organized by Yuvasene.

Following the 'Visarjana Puja' in preparation for the procession of the deity to its final destination, an attractive show of fire works was organized.

The procession, which left 'Chatrapathi Shivaji Mantap' where the idol of Lord Ganesha was worshipped, passed through A B Shetty Circle, Signal Circle, K S Rao Circle, Navabharath Circle, Dongerkery and New Chitra before the idol was immersed in Mahamaya temple pond on Field Street. 

Over 15 attractive tableaux contributed immensely to the grandeur of the procession. Thousands of people had gathered on both sides of the road through which the procession moved, to pay respects to Lord Ganesha and witness the grand procession.

This being silver jubilee celebration, the Yuvasene had organized various programmes during the nine-day celebrations, and devotees had attended the programmes in large numbers.
