Udupi, Sep 4: The auditions for the much-awaited Konkani singing reality show 'Mhojo Tallo Gaitalo' were held at Don Bosco church hall here on Sunday, September 3. The show is one of a kind based on the songs of Konkan Kogull late Wilfy Rebimbus.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor of Udupi diocese blessed the event and wished all success to the contestants. Meena Rebimbus, wife of late Wilfy Rebimbus, inaugurated the event by handing over the ‘Golden Mic’ to Fr Denis D'Sa, PRO of Udupi diocese, the judge for the auditions.
Entrepreneur Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, the chief guest, addressing the gathering said, "Wilfy Rebimbus is a legend of the Konkani music industry. He is still alive in our hearts. You contestants have to become like the late ‘Konkan Kogull’.”
Another chief guest Dr Vincent Alva, principal of Milagres College said, “Late Wilfy Rebimbus was so melodious that even nightingales were nothing in comparison to him. His words used to evoke sentiments. Konkani language will survive and live long if we sing Wilfy’s songs.”
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the bishop of Udupi diocese, also took part in the event and wished good luck to all the participants. He also recalled a poem written by him about late Wilfy Rebimbus.
Earlier, Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld media welcomed the guests and gathering.
Vishwas Rebimbus and family members of Wilfy Rebimbus, Kishoo Barkur, proprietor of Kishoo Enterprises Udupi; Lawrence D’Souza, director of Daijiworld Television; Ronald D’Souza, entrepreneur, Dubai; Kevin Rodrigues, Divyanand Gonsalves and others were present.
The auditions for 'Mhojo Tallo Gaitalo' in Mangaluru were held on August 27.
This is the first show in Konkani which is exclusively dedicated to Wilfy Rebimbus. The participants have to render songs penned and composed by the legend.
