Gurgaon: Protesters torch liquor shop near school; cops resort to lathi charge

Gurgaon, Sep 10 (PTI): Hundreds of people today staged a demonstration outside the Ryan International School in Gurgaon demanding a CBI probe into the murder of a seven-year-old school boy and set afire a liquor shop near the school.

Police used batons to quell the protest and detained 20 protestors. Cameras of some photojournalists were also damaged during the protest.

Some of the demonstrators threw liquor bottles inside school premises to vent their ire against the school management, police said. The liquor shop is barely 50 metres away from the school.

They demanded that the school should be shut until a CBI probe is ordered into the incident.

"The Gurgaon Police had to use mild lathicharge to disperse the agitators. The police detained over 20 protestors found agitating outside the school," Ravinder Kumar PRO Gurgaon Police said.

The protestors alleged that school drivers and conductors often consume alcohol from the liquor shop in their free time.

Praduman Thakur was found murdered with his throat slit inside the toilet of Ryan International School on Friday, triggering public outrage.

Gurgaon Police arrested school bus conductor Ashok Kumar in connection with the case.

Kumar was inside the toilet, waiting for any student to come inside with the motive of sexual assault. The deceased was the first student who entered the toilet, the police said.

I pray God to give strength to the Parents bear such a pain and irreversible loss. No punishment will bring that innocent child back to his parent.
While culprits (main culprit the bus conductor, School Promoter, Principal, Administrative head) should be punished severely so that in future such heinous crimes never happens.
My opinion on Santan Mascarenhas comment - While crimes might have not happened till now in a school which is near to Liquor shops (or Bars) that doesn't guarantee that crime may not happen in future. My observation is intoxicated (drunken) minds are more vulnerable to commit crimes so better to relocate those liquor shops (I think there are rules on this) for the betterment of our future generations.
On other comments like blaming political systems etc.. - Most of us are biased in our views and we support wrong people due to such views. When a crime (bad things) happens the first thing we should do is view with transparency and condemn the crimes with one voice ! Mistakes should be highlighted whether its done by BJP, Congress, JDS, etc... If a culprit goes scot-free he/she is more confident of doing the same again :(
Ex (A incident happened in my mother-in-law's housing society): Couple of years back someone stole some Rs. 20,000.00 from a house of single lady living in Mangalore. While majority of residents favored giving a police complaint (suspecting one of security guard) but some ladies and society management discouraged to do so and opinion (from many residents) is this particular security guard is providing some domestic help (bringing vegetables, playing with their kids etc..) to some of these ladies families. After some time the same security guard was caught sending some unwanted SMS to a girl and to a domestic help living in the society and when the parents started questioning him he fled to his native place (somewhere in North East India).

This kind of protest was not a sensible one. Destroying shops and school property was an act of goondagiri and a bad example to the students and school. They could have closed down the liquor shop and that would have been the end.

Forget about previous government and the draw backs of Congress.
Now BJP is ruling must bring appropriate law to finish all the rapists and wrong doers. Time to wake up and npt to continue criticizing & crying over others mistakes.

Liquor shop is just an alibi and target. In my neighbourhood in Mumbai, there is a very famous catholic school, where more than 300 students complete SSC every year and with result 100% for the last 20 years. Within the radius of 60 meters there are 2 liquor shops and about 8 bar & restaurants. Still the area is very peaceful. The problem is not with liquor, but the mindset of people.

This school is BJP supporter and hence no action will be taken against it. It's up to the parents to decide whether to continue or not. Just be terminating principal issue can not be solved. Parents should not create nuisance in the society. Instead they can protest in school compound so that management can understand their concerns.
