Bantwal, Sep 13: In a tragic accident which happened at Kalladka Dasakody on national highway 75, a tempo driver, in an effort to save the life of a scooterist, dashed his vehicle against the divider and lost his life. This accident happened on Tuesday September 12 afternoon.

Suresh (45), resident of Kote Shunti i n Sringeri taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, was the victim of this accident. His assistant, Gurudath from Hebri Puttur, suffered injuries. He was provided initial treatment at the government hospital in the town before being shifted to Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

It is gathered that tempo was bring driven towards Melkar from the direction of Puttur when a scooter coming from opposite direction suddenly came face to face with the tempo at Balthila-Neerapade. The tempo driver suddenly  moved the vehicle to the left to avoid hitting the scooter. When doing so, the tempo hit the road divider, and the tempo fell down and crushed the driver under its weight, said the personnel of Melkar traffic station.

Soon after the accident, Uppinangady station house officer, Nandakumar, who was coming from Mangaluru, saw the  accident and helped to shift the injured person to hospital immediately.
