Kasargod: Kerala Closes Down in Protest against Fuel Price Hike

Kasargod, Jun 5: In response to the UPA government's decision to hike the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders, the Left Democratic Front (LDF), which is the ruling party in Kerala and the BJP called a hartal throughtout Kerala on Thursday June 5.

Trasport was hit and only a few taxis were seen plying on the roads. Inter-state buses from Karnataka were sent back from the border.

Shops and educational institutions remained closed with only a few medical stores and groceries opening business.

LDF and BJP took out separate rallies in protest against the price hike. Chandrashekhar Nair, Kunhiraman, P Krishnan, Karivellur Vijayan, Abdur Rehman Bangod, R G Kurup, Vijayan Master, Sumathi Bhaskaran and others were part of the LDF rally.

The hartal went on peacfully and so far no untoward incident has been reported.

    Oh..no.. one more hartal in kasaragod. In april there were lot of hartals during those communal violence and normal life was disrupted. So now one more hartal but for another reason. People are fed of these. Whatz d use of hartal?Will the prices go down?...no. People of kasaragod dont want anymore of hartal and violence.. enough is enough..People just want to lead a peacful life..Even if the political parties want to protest why cant they do in a peaceful manner without disrupting normal life.They will never learn and they are never going to change.
