Bangalore, Jun 6: "The Pancha Pandavas of Mahabharatha unitedly fought and won the war of Kurukshetra. But our Pancha Pandavas threw the cudgel on the Congress Party itself, thus depriving it from grabbing power in the State." This was the interesting analysis made by the party legislators sitting in the lobby of Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.
The first day of the Assembly session was dedicated to only oath-taking ceremony which gave the MLAs of the Opposition plenty of time to discuss and analyse the Congress party's dismal performance. The Congress MLAs passed comments and judgements about their party and its leaders in spite of the presence of senior leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge and Siddharamaiah closeby.
One of the MLAs said that, had Kharge, Krishna, Dharam Singh, Siddharamaiah and Jaffer Sharief fought the elections unitedly, the people would have backed the party. But they tried to dominate each other weakening the party.
A Bangalore MLA, recalled that J.H. Patel, Ramakrishna Hegde and H.D. Deve Gowda together toured the State in the last decade thus winning the confidence of the people. But the Congress leaders fought with each other. "Then how will the party earn the confidence of people?" he asked.
Another MLA alleged that the party MP had himself fielded six Muslim candidates in Jevargi constituency which led to the defeat of Dharam Singh. Had Dharam Singh won this time, there were chances of forming a Congress-JD(S) coalition Government, he opined.
Another MLA wholeheartedly praised the election strategy of BJP. The BJP widely publicised the 'tailored' election forecast in the media, thus making the people feel that there was a BJP wave in the State. But this idea did not strike our leaders, he said sarcastically.
The Congress party observer Prithviraj Chauhan does not know anything about the affairs of the party here. Those who had surrounded him, did not want the party to win 100 seats and were only interested in forming another coalition Government.
