Puttur, Jun 8 : The BJP took out an impressive victory march from Darbe to Kille Maidan in Puttur on Saturday, June 7, concluding in a meeting at the Maidan to thank the voters who supported the party.

Party state president and MP D V Sadanand Gowda, speaking on the occasion, spelt out the party's foremost agenda in the state as allround development and efficient governance. The party will not give scope for a governance that belies the trust reposed on it and will not shy away from the promises it had made. As far as the political scenario is concerned, the conduct of the BJP will be worth emulating by others, he stressed.

The voters of Puttur constituency have, in the recent election, shown that they value the principles of the party rather than getting influenced by personal charisma. The party has been enjoying unstinted support of the population here since the last 14 years and the deceptive efforts put in by those trying to unsettle the party have failed to succeed in wresting the seat from the party, Gowda noted.

District in charge minister Krishna Palemar who was a participant of the rally, instructed the Puttur assistant commissioner to first concentrate on regulating the spread of Chikungunya in the taluk and later take up other tasks like evicting illegal constructions. Puttur legislator Mallika Prasad promised to work to the satisfaction of the voters of the constituency.

BJP leaders Guttu Ranganath Rai, Bangaradka Vishweshwar Bhat, M Sanjeev Shetty, Chanila Timmappa Shetty, Gopalakrishna Herle, K T Shailaja, ex MLA Kumble Sundar Rao, A Rukmaya Poojary, Nalin Kumar etc., were present.

General secretary of Puttur constituency unit of the BJP I C Kailash welcomed. Puttur municipal council president Rajesh Bannur presented the programme. Gopalakrishna Herle proposed vote of thanks.

BJP should stop this madness. They are still in the post-election hangover and spending unknown amounts of money on victory rallies that does not serve any purpose.

We Indians need to do a lot of introspection. As culturally diverse as we are, we also have similar diversity in our views. Such diversity in ideas and thinking is dangerous for the country of our size, where we have few vested interests in powerfull position who take full advantage of the very diversity (read: confusion, divided house, interfaith/intercommunity distrust) we are proud of for personal gains. Today's goverment (be it BJP Congress or any other party) grossly mismanages vast resources with very little accountability and largely because common man's token say in state's affair comes once in 4-5 years in the form of vote. It starts and ends there. Hope the new goverment will do something for common man's plight.

    The to-do list would include:

    1. Developing a spirit of enterprenuership (In various sectors such as Agricultural, Hi-tech, services etc).

    2. Increased agricultural production. Education on new technologies (not new chemicals), irrigation, and provide agricultural sector equal opportunity as any other manufacturing sector.

    3. Reduction in unnecassary spending.

    4. Bring down corruption levels from the current alarming state. ANY Government transaction today is associated with a bribe.

    5. Quality education for everyone.

    6. Regulation in Health care to the advantage of common man. The current money centric highly equipped hospitals need to be not only encouraged but also controlled so that their rise should not threaten the very reason they are encouraged.
