Mangalore: Manipur Youth on a Cultural Mission

Mangalore, Jun 13 - Under the Youth Exchange and Home Stay Programme, about 40 youth from Manipur are on a visit to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts. They will present the rich cultural heritage of their state here, for the next ten days.
The youth are being provided accommodation in Kallya village where they will be hosted by 22 families and their stay there will be of three day duration. The programme is being organised by NehruYuva Kendra(NYK) in assoiation with the Karkala Taluk Yuvajana Okkoota and Chaitanya Mithra Mandali, informed NYK district co-ordinator Shanta Kumar, at a press meet held in the city on Thursday. The visiting youth are on a mission to spread the message of emotional integration and will be provided with an opportunityto showcase their talents in the fields in which they are trained, he said.
The above programme was chalked out a few years ago, to provide opportunities to the youth of the north eastern and other parts of the country to visit other parts of the country and get to know about different cultures, languages, life styles and get a feeling of national integration. During these visits, opportunities are provided to the visitors to get to know of the life styles of the places visited by them, apart from exhibiting their innate talents and witness the local art forms. The group of youth will be taken to various places of interest in the two districts. The next stop of the visiting team will be Bangalore.
The youth presented a programme offolk songs and dance on the occasion.
