Udupi, Oct 17: BJP and Bajrang Dal, on Tuesday, October 17, strongly condemned the assault on a policeman by cattle traffickers near Kandlur that occurred in the morning.

Speaking in preparatoy meeting for the 'Dharma Sansad' to be held from November 24 to 26 in Udupi, Sharan Pumpwell, zonal convener of Bajrang Dal said, "Theft, illegal transport, and illegal slaughter of cattle, along with illegal slaughterhouses have been working since the day Siddaramaiah-led government came to power. Thousands of people have expressed anguish in this connection and several organizations have submitted their appeals to the government in this respect but the illegal activities have continued without hindrance. It is because the government encourages such illegal activities,"

“A woman named Nandini had informed the police about illegal slaughter of cattle in her hometown two days ago. There was an attempt to murder her. The government is not even willing to say a word against it," he added.

Sharan further said, “Police had intercepted a pickup vehicle laden with cattle in Kundapur this morning. Unfortunately, the cattle in the vehicle were dead. The miscreants hit their vehicle against the police's vehicle in an attempt to assault the police, and made it look like an accident," he said.

"Do not test our patience. We have exerted pressure to stop illegal transport of cattle and to close illegal slaughterhouses. If the government does not consider the matter seriously, Bajrang Dal will directly assault those in illegal slaughterhouses and stop vehicles illegally transporting cattle,” he warned.

CM Siddaramaiah is inspiration to cattle thieves - MLA Sunil Kumar

Karkal MLA Sunil Kumar said, "Such incidents happen repeatedly in Dakshina Kannada. But both the district administrations and the state government, in particular, have a softened stance. Chief minister Siddaramaiah is an inspiration to cattle thieves to openly assault and take away cattle from people's houses. It is an irony that the government, that should follow law and order, is supporting those who take law in their hands,” he said.

He urged suitable action against miscreants, an increase in night patrolling and the closure of illegal slaughterhouses.

“There is no safety for police personnel in the state. Illegal activities are underway on a large scale. The government is directly responsible for it,” he concluded.
