Dharwad: God has not asked not to come to temple after consuming meat – CM

Daijiworld Media Network – Dharwad (EP)

Dharwad, Oct 23: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah justified consumption of meat before visiting the Dharmasthala temple.

Speaking to reporters after Congress conference in Dharwad, he said, “God has not told not to come to the temple after consumption of meat. Bedara Kannappa also had offered meat of the deer to Shiva deity. It is not wrong to go to temple after consumption of meat,”

“Has God asked not to eat meat?” he asked the news reporters.

Siddaramaiah at Dharmasthala on October 22

The chief minister during the Dakshina Kannada tour on Sunday, Oct 22 had consumed fish meal at Bantwal IB after the programme. He had later paid a visit to Manjunathaswamy after going to Kshetra Dharmasthala.

Ministers Ramanath Rai and U T Khader too had visited the deity. Devotees visiting the deity in Dharmasthala go there without consuming non-vegetarian food. Therefore, the visit by chief minister after eating fish meal had created controversy.

This is how Brahmins controlled the society and this is the real danger of Brahmanya. They did not eat fish and they spread false notion that coming to temple after eating fish is sin. Fish or any non-vegetarian food takes around 65-72 hours to get digested once eaten. So can anyone tell what should be the minimum gap between eating non-veg and visiting temple? Coastal districts are majority domains of fisheries or Mogaveera community whose basic, daily food is incomplete without fish. We eat fish thrice a day and we visit temples. What's wrong in it? In Kaup, devotees sacrifice hen/cock during Mari. Let anyone come there in front of Kaup Marigudi, Shri Janardhan Temple or Mahalakshmi Temple in Uchila and ask devotees not to enter temple because they eat fish. No one can stop them because fish is their daily and basic food. It is left to one's belief. Thousands of devotees visit Dharmasthala temple everyday. Does anyone know what they eat before visiting the temple? Don’t we immerse idols of gods and goddesses where fish are there? Doesn’t the temple priest take bath in the river or temple pond where we can find fish, before performing puja? In fact as per puranas fish is one of the avataras of Lord Vishnu.
CM ate in the public and hence people knew. But if he had his food at home and visited the temple later, anyone would have known what had he eaten? Want to criticize CM, criticize over his governance, failures of government etc. But when you find people and specially the opposition criticizing CM for fish, crow, watch etc we know that they don’t have anything else to point about CM. As simple as that.

It is not mentioned anywhere that after eating meat or fish you should not enter temple. But as per
rule of Hinduism you have to have Satvik food to do any pooja or upasana. A person who wants to go to holy place must be clean, and wear proper clothes and with devotion he must enter the place of God. we do not need to compare some sadhu who smoke, eat human flesh etc etc. Mr. Siddaramiah being chief Minister of state he should atleast show the courtesy of avoiding such thing when he knows that all the citizens will observe him and he is a role model of the State.
it is not right to say brahmins controlling the temple. Now everyone is free to go to temple there is no restrictions in our temples anyone to enter and pray.

Rather he chose arrogance way to defend his move...

For info of those people who don't know the practice.. "People go to Dharmasthala don't consume the non-veg for 3 days before their visit (some 10 days and some for a month)"

Arrogant Nidderama will be punished for sure.... Hope he learns to respect faith after the punishment

In our country people both much about eating habits .Eating habits and behaviour of people donot have any correlation .For example Hitler considered as on of the worst genocide leader was a vegetarian whereas Mother Teresa St.of mercy was a non vegetarian. God has created all plants and animals for the consumption of human being .There is a natural food cycle big fish eats small fish wild animals like lion tiger eat other herbivores animals like deer goat etc . Eating habits is personal.preference of individual. CM consumed food at BC road not at at the temple. Of course we must respect the place of worship and their culture Jainism advocates vegetarian diet so we must respect that custom at that place . Here no need to make hue and cry on a trivial isdue

Can anyone tell me those who visit temples, whether they are all vegetarians or those who consumed non veg meal never visited temple. While entering into a temple, does your God or temple priest scan your body or question you, whether you consumed non-veg food ? Why these kind of hypocrisy ? If you really believe God from your heart, you would never bother in such silly things. Worship God from your soul and heart. Live your life as per your belief. Don’t bother about others belief. There is no wonder that, because of such kind of narrow mindedness, a religion is divided into so many castes and creed. How one can expect unity in one religion. Let us grow up.
