Udupi: Illegal slaughterhouse raided - eight cattle rescued, father-son duo arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Oct 26: In an incident which happened at Mulur near Kaup on Wednesday October 25 morning, police personnel of Kaup station raided an illegal slaughterhouse there and rescued eight cattle. It is said that these cattle were stolen from various places. The police also arrested a father-son duo which was operating the said slaughterhouse.

M A Abbu (66), and his son, Ismail (35), who were found to be in charge of the slaughterhouse, stand arrested. The raid was led by Kaup police sub-inspector, Nityananda Gowda, based on reliable information he got, at 4 am with some personnel from his station.

Ismael

Abbu

A cow and seven calves which were about to be slaughtered, were rescued by the police. The raiding party also confiscated a Mahindra pick-up van used for transporting cattle to the slaughterhouse. Five decomposed pelts, two machetes and wooden block have been seized. During the raid, another accused, identified as Shekhabba, fled from the spot and escaped arrest.

The accused reportedly were running this slaughterhouse openly since the last many years. When it was raided all of a sudden, the accused were taken aback. They tried to escape from the raiding team by hiding themselves in corners of the inside the house.

By then, police sub-inspector, Nityananda Gowda, contacted police circle inspector, V S Halamurthy, and sought his guidance. Halamurthy rushed to the spot along with some lady constables and directed the concerned to arrest the accused. The rescued animals were thereafter handed over to the care of cattle shelter at Neelavar.

Out of the rescued animals, the cow appears to have been bought on bank loan, going by the metal tag fixed to its ear. It is thought to be a stolen animal. Although police had tried in the past to close down illegal slaughterhouses in the area, their efforts had not born fruits. But Nityananda Gowda, who came to Kaup police station recently, won appreciation of the people by raiding two illegal slaughterhouses within a gap of three days within two weeks of his reporting here.

A case stands registered in Kaup police station and investigation is in progress.

    kas,

without having the complete knowledge, please don't write the incorrect comments about the incidents. for your kind information, India has never banned the cow slaughter. at the same time there is a provision in IPC to prevent the cow theft or any kind of theft case. if any one do the business/activity with legal way then nobody will prevent you. but as a civilized citizen of this country we should not support those people who involved in illegal activities even though he might have belonging to our own caste/religion or even our family member also.

'There is no beef ban in India'

Then, why there is ban on beef slaughter in some states (only)? That too, they don't mind slaughtered meat brought from other states to sell ? This is nothing but fake love for cow.

Moreover, why export is legal ? How can BJP make use of the money that is earned out of exporting beef ? Again, fake cow love !

Have you anytime checked who are the owners of these farms who grow cows for beef export ?

You have to ask this questions to the No 1 CM. If cow slaughter is legal in states like Kerala, West bengal why Siddu is not able legalize in Karnataka ? Once it is legal, you have to keep track of everything and stealing of cows will come down. Most of the stolen cows end up in illegal slaughter houses and many lives will be spoiled those who depend on milking.

Raids by law enforcement agencies on illegal slaughter houses should be encouraged, because stealing cattle and illegally slaughtering them is both a crime and eating this meat is also unhygienic and bad for health. If one knows about such illegal activities, they should inform the police so that action is taken. People who steal cattle are nothing but thieves and criminals and should be treated as such. However, one should not trouble people who are following government guidelines and legally running the meat business.

However, appreciating a Police Officer just because raiding slaughterhouses while human beings don't get justice from the police department, seem to be out of order. How many human beings do we rescue from their miseries and living death? Does it disturb us? If it doesn't, then we don't have a human heart.

50000 rupees can grow to 80 crores in a year and clean chit but cow thief must be shot during raid. The cow thieves must be booked and punished as per the law of the country. I respect the sentiments of majority and no cow should be slaughtered. At the same time export of beef must be stopped, otherwise no meaning in stopping poor people from consuming beef, and the rich enjoying with the exports.

Hence the illegal market is coming up as mutton cost 450 rupees per kilo. The big question is where was the police in 2005 when two cattle traders of moolur peraded nakedly in udupi by the gobakths terrorists . Police offecials if want to be fair n just they must keep close their eyes about illegal beef trade beacuce the definition of legal beef trade has no stable meaning. Human's eating food is ones legal and fundamental right.

    No law applies to it.

Moreover eating cattle meat 🍖 is not a sin.

Media is a powerful eyes opener of officials, authority's, Ministers, Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister.

Writing a letter or not writing a letter is left to me. None of your business.

Haven't you hear of illegal land was made legal by all the successive government's.

Do you say that all the successive government's are shielding illegals.

    Comment sensibly.

When an illegal land can become legal why not illegal slaughter houses cannot be legal.

I once again humbly urge the Deputy Commissioners of the twin district to issue permits to cattle slaughter houses to each and every taluks so that the question of illegal never arise.

There is no question of legal or illegal in eating food for humans..

Mr Karkera....if you are following the internet, pls read this para which is specially picked for you

25000 cows are smuggled to Bangladesh every day. • Cattle are brought by truck from states across eastern India such as Bihar , Orissa and Jharkhand. • Sometimes country crafts are used to ferry them to the other side of the river. In some cases the smugglers merely float the cattle in the water with courier who swims across with them. Their counterpart on the other side will pull the animals out of the water

Kas, so now you atleast agreed on the Beef export not being Cow meat right? Secondly on your point of cattle smuggling through border states of Bangladesh , that is illegal and not government policy neither promoted by BJP government, it is promoted by Mamta government in Bengal as she doesn't want to act on these people fearing loss of vote bank. Yogi has cracked down heavily on these smugglers of cattle in Uttar Pradesh, so is Jharkhand BJP government. Past Akhilesh Yadav government of Uttar Pradesh had never acted on these smugglers hence they flourished. Times have changed now.
