Bantwal, Oct 27: Personnel of Vittal police station succeeded in arresting five persons connected with a recent case of honeytrap which happened at Kudtamugeru, Vittal Padnur village in the taluk. The arrests were made on Thursday October 26 from near Mani Junction.
The arrested accused happen to be Ashraf Samsheer (27) from Thokkottu, Zainuddin (21) from Ammemar, Farangipet, Muhammed Iqbal (27), resident of Ullal Margatali in Tokkottu, Ubaidulla (32) from Ullal Mukkacheri, and Farzana alias Farzama Sumayya (26) from Arehalli, Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district.
Six cellphones, two cars, eight grams of gold, Rs 7.5 lac in cash and passports were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
Victim Hanif
Reports said that Hanif from Vittal Padnur village had got acquainted with a woman through Facebook. On October 21, the woman called Hanif, telling him that her mother was suffering from health problems and sought financial help from him to meet cost of her treatment. For this purpose, she also is said to have visited to Mudipu along with one of her friends.
The woman later deputed her friend, a woman, to the residence of Hanif at Kudtamugeru. When Hanif reached home along with the said woman, a gang barged into his home, attacked Hanif, and robbed cash and gold ornaments, it is claimed.
On the basis of complaint filed by Hanif, Vittal police had registered a case. The police, who undertook investigation, succeeded in cracking the case within a short period and arresting the accused.
