Bengaluru: No question of George resigning, says CM, points out 20 union ministers tainted

Bengaluru, Oct 27: Seeking to turn the tables against BJP for demanding the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K J George merely because of CBI filing an FIR in the suicide of police offer M K Ganapathy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday challenged the ruling party at the Centre and its State leaders if it would get all its ministers facing FIRs to quit.

In a strong defence of his cabinet colleague, the chief minister said "George had resigned when an FIR was filed. He was taken back into the cabinet after a B report was filed and he was cleared," and declared: "He is not going to resign again."

Siddaramaiah contended that the FIR filed by CBI on the directions of its investigation ordered by the Supreme Court was merely a continuation of what was filed by the Kushalnagar police station, which was subsequently investigated by CID.

"The CBI has been asked to complete its investigation and submit its report in 3 months. Let the BJP leaders wait for the CBI report and what the court decides," he said.

The Chief Minister said the BJP's demand for his resignation was clearly politically motivated. The filing of FIR did not warrant the resignation of George.

Taking political potshots at his Uttar Pradesh counterpart, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister said that Yogi faced charges of attempt to murder, criminal intimidation and rioting.

Attacking the BJP, Siddaramaiah said at least 20 Central and state ministers belonging BJP had FIRs against them and "they too must resign by the same standards, if BJP wants George to resign then they should also ask these ministers to resign too".

The chief minister said the State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa himself faces six cases of cheating. When CBI is closing cases against him, they have no grounds for asking George to resign, Siddaramaiah asserted.

"I don’t want to comment on CBI. But the people and the country know its credibility," he added.

The CM also added that as a matter of fact, an FIR filed against anybody is not proof of the allegation or charges a person is facing. So the question of George's resignation does not arise.

Siddaramaiah cited the example of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who is facing charges of criminal intimidation, attempt to murder and rioting, He also added that BJP parliamentarians Ramesh Jigajinagi, B Sriramulu, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Prahlad Joshi, Suresh Angadi and Karadi Sanganna are facing charges and state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa has seven charges of cheating, six charges of criminal breach of trust and forgery of records against him.

It may be recalled that In July 2016, before committing suicide, Ganapati, in an interview to a local TV channel had accused George and other two IPS officers of harassing him. Subsequently, the state government had ordered a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Owing to pressure from opposition, George, the then home minister, had resigned and the two IPS officers in question were transferred. However, later George was cleared in this case due to lack of evidence and was re-inducted into the Cabinet.

If he is facing problems there are concellors, doctors and other people to help. Why to commit suicide that too a govt. worker who is getting good salary.

CBI should not close this case unless thoroughly investigating Ganapathy's role in Church attack. Many innocent victims wished him death and that was what happened. The curse of innocent people. Guilt of wrong doing and finally loosing his own soul and committing suicide. Rest his case.

CBI also look must into the circumstances which prompted the allegged sucide of DySP Ganapathi .., that too after giving television interview.., that too un-usually in a hotel lodge..., not sure .., whether any other TV or media reporters are called and the body language of the recorded interview was not giving any clue that Late Ganapathi is disturbed.

Sadly, without any iota of truth, political parties still trying to milk out of this issue..., for political benefit..., the amount of interest with an intent to malign the political opponents ...., look like some one is waiting for their return on investment...,

Joseph assesses development of states based on his theory and gives ranking, he has given number one for Karnataka, I am not in this business, have you ever seen my comment ranking states on development? Then where is the question of any theory from my side? Since Karnataka is ruled by Congress now Joseph has ranked it number one, when the regime changes here he will say Punjab is number one because that will be the only Congress ruled state left. This is his theory of assessing development & ranking them. I hope you got my point. I go by the figures given by our rating agencies ranking states on different parameters.I don't know where Joseph found Karnataka as number one in overall development.

I would have been the happiest person had Siddharamaiah done that. Now I have the courage to call a spade as spade unlike you blindly supporting the wrongdoings of KJ George , so it's clear that you are a Blind Bhaktha of Congress party and not me

shivaraj Chauhan found New York city roads are worse than Madhya Pradesh. I totally agree with Shivraj chauhan....... I have seen in Canada, USA, and Europe that there are beggars worse than India.
They are worse because the people are educated and they want give anything to these beggars and ask them to work. But in India begging is a business, and people of India giving alms to these beggars, and take bath in Ganga thinking their sins will be forgiven by god..... India is a foolish peoples paradise i.e. we elect corrupt and brainless people to rule us on the basis of religion, caste creed. but in foreign country only your work will elect you. Some USA roads are worst than Madya pradesh and some are better than Indian any roads..... These ministers will escape from the people by giving some silly examples. Shame on you Shivaraj Chauhan. If any minister of these foreign country caught in case like vypam than those government will put them inside jail for 20 years..... He is smiling and roaming free.

    Dear Karthik Karkera, Maryhill Mangalore,

Siddharamaiah did not said he will act against Yeddy.

Secondly, DySp spoke about church attacks before committing suicide. He said he is not involved but he was fully involved in beating Christians inside the church.

Judas committed suicide of his own guilt.
DySp committed suicide of his own guilt of heeding to D.K. District BJP thugs. Ganapati had several cases of robbed booty, robbing for himself.

COMMITTING SUICIDE IS A COWARDLY ACT.
HE SHOULD HAVE FACED DEPARTMENTAL CASES BRAVELY.
YET HE DIED COWARDLY ACCUSING INNOCENT PEOPLE.

Yes. I am a supporter of Congress.
Congress built this nation from dust to the highest.

BJP DESTROY INDIA'S ECONOMY LIKE A PACK OF CARDS.

DEAR KARTIK WHY DO YOU FOLLOW NAGPUR PRESS NEWS???!!!

Joseph, I don't follow any Nagpur Press, there is enough content in all our Kannada media about Siddaramaiah promising to act against Yeddy, Reddy etc if you wish to ignore I can't help. Secondly it's okay that you are Congress supporter everyone has the right to support the party of his choice in Democracy so I won't abuse you for that just like you did to me . Now I want to ask you a question? What is your opinion on the 2g scam & coal scam which caused a huge loss to our Exchequer , The scam is proved in Supreme court and they cancelled all the licences alloted arbitrarily now the process of convicting the guilty people behind it is on the Supreme court. What is your opinion please , Will you atleast dare to criticize the Congress for the wrongdoings or look the other way?

We all know that BJP is using Ganapati's suicide case not out of love for Ganapati but for gaining political mileage ahead of elections. Considering that assembly elections are due early next year it is better George step down as minister till investigations are complete so as not to give the opponents a chance to bash Siddu government. As Congress is sure to come back to power again, George can be re-inducted after the elections.

Siddaramaiah is correct. he said, 20 out of the 64 ministers in the central government have criminal cases against them. Eight of them are Cabinet ministers and there are 11 ministers facing serious criminal charges such as an attempt to murder. “BJP should demand their resignation also,” In Bihar BJP supported government has 76% Bihar ministers face criminal cases, 72% are crorepatis . Most of the politicians are i.e. Congress, BJP, JD or AADMK or any other parties are criminal. When you become only than the party will issue ticket than why BJP is asking Georg's resignation????? I am not supporting Congress or BJP. Make one rule that anyone is having case against them than they must not be allowed to stand for election until they clear the case. It should be for all the parties.Make also rule that above 70 years old no one is authored to stay for election. I am about 60 and now when I am running or walking my mind will not work like when I was young. Why we want half brain dead people to rule us?????.
