Beltangady, Oct 28: Security arrangements have been beefed up here on Friday October 27 ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dharmasthala and Ujire on Sunday, October 29.
As the prime minister will arrive in special plane from Delhi to Mangaluru and then travel to Dharmasthala helipad by helicopter, a helicopter was landed in the helipad. Staffs from police, canine squad, bomb-disposal squad and anti naxal force were busy taking stalk of security arrangements with SPG.
The Prime Minister will address the conference in Ujire Rathnavarma Heggade sports ground. Preparations for the auditorium and platform are progressing in brisk pace. Prime Minister’s special security force, SPG is stationed at the ground.
Ten officers from special protection force together with IG M P Gupta are inspecting the venue and conducting security arrangements. Policemen are deployed to supervise workers preparing the platform. Workers who have arrived from Bengaluru are preparing massive German model pandal. Huge beams are being installed with the help of cranes. More than 200 workers are working. The platform is being prepared in such a way that even if a person sits at the corner of the ground, he will get a clear view of the platform and those who are present there.
Arvind of SPG said that developments that are taking place every second are being observed to ensure that there are no lapses.
The main hall platform has dimensions of 100x30 feet. Another platform where the programme will be held with the dimensions of 40x30 feet is prepared within it. Two offices with dimensions of 20x20 feet each are opened beside the platform. One of them will be for the Prime Minister and the other will be used as Prime Minister’s office. There is also a back office and D Zone at a distance of 60 feet near the platform. Barricades will be installed there. Thirty five thousand seats will be kept under the pendals in front of the platform and on the sides. There will be five entrances to the ground.
Changes in traffic arrangements
There will be no entry of vehicles from Ujire market entrance till Dharmasthala from 9 am on October 29 till the prime minister returns. The vehicles will have to use alternative routes. Those who are coming from Shishila and Kokkada will have to come till Dharmasthala Kalleri and proceed via Mundruppadi, Mundaje to Ujire. Those who go to Bengaluru from Udupi, Karkala and Moodbidri can proceed via Guruvayanakere and Uppinangady road. Those who are coming for the programme should be present before 10.30 am.
Inspection by Dr Heggade
Dr Heggade personally inspected the venue on Friday. He visited all the places including platform. Dr L H Manjunath, Dr B Yashovarma and others were present.
“Nearly one lac people are expected to participate in the programme. However visitors should have identity cards with their pictures on it,” said Dharmasthala rural development project managing director Dr L H Manjunath.
Sixty thousand members of rural development project from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and 25 thousand BJP workers will participate in the gathering. It is hoped that people in the district will participate in large numbers. There will be no restrictions. The elite who have passes and the citizens should bring their identity cards. Vehicles of the people can be parked at Ajjarkad maidan, near Janardhan School, Janardhan temple, Anugraha school or SDM Engineering College. There is space for 1,600 buses and 1,500 other vehicles. Meals are arranged in the parking area. Fifteen video screens are arranged in the playground to watch the programme.
There are five entrances for people near Belalu road. As security teams are deployed in 40 places, there will be no delay. The elite are provided entrance near bus stop in front of PU College. The stadium is divided into 12 parts with five thousand seats each to prevent rush. Seventy thousand people are able to sit in the stadium. People can also sit on the gallery, tennis ground and other places for the programme.
Buttermilk and water
SKF of Moodbidri will distribute free water to one lac people. KMF will provide buttermilk. Meals are arranged for those who participate.
Those from Kokkada and Ujire should reach before 9 am. Traffic will be restricted on Ujire-Dharmasthala road from 9 am to 1 pm. There will be no restrictions till Ujire-Belalu cross. Shops will be open in Ujire and Dharmasthala. Movement of people is restricted. There will be no entry to the temple from Saturday night.
