Mangalore, Jun 19: The Karnataka police have finally released Atul Rao, one of the key persons involved in the death of Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat's wife Padmapriya.

He was brought from Delhi to Western Range IGP's office on Thursday June 19 after his release. His wife Meera Rao, his mother and two children were present when he came out from the Western Range IGP's office at about 8.30 pm.

When media persons tried to speak to him, he refused to share any information and assured that he would do so after two or three days.

Sources informed that Atul Rao's wife Meera Rao has asked for police security and the police department has agreed to provide it.

Atul Rao and his family are in the process of shifting to an undisclosed location to avoid any possible attack from rival parties. Moreover, Atul Rao was looking frightened when he came out from the IGP's office.

He was taken into custody while Padmapriya was found missing in Udupi. Later he was taken to Delhi for further investigation. Padmapriya was found hanging in an apartment in Delhi. It was suspected that Atul Rao was responsible for Padmapriya's disappearance as he was close to her.
