Mangaluru: Pay money only if ticket is issued in buses - police in phone-in prog

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Oct 28: Police have advised the public to pay money only if ticket is provided in private buses. This was announced in the phone-in programme that took place in the office of the police commissioner on Friday, October 28.

According to the police, the department is continuously receiving complaints with regards to not issuing of tickets in private buses since six months. The constant efforts of transport department and police have not made any difference to this issue. Hence, it is better if the public pays the money only if the ticket is provided by the conductor.

Only senior citizens should be allowed to sit on seats that are reserved on private buses for them. If anyone violates this rule, the conductor should make the person understand. If the passenger is not obliging, information should be given to police immediately. Within five to ten minutes police van 'Sagar' will arrive on the spot and take necessary action, police commissioner said.

Most of the time the conductors do not return the change in rush hours. Example if you give Rs.20/- note for a Rs.11/- ticket, he takes 20/- and proceed to other as if nothing happened. I lost many times. It is a lesson to me to tender exact ticket amount. This advise from police really help many passengers like me.

@Ramesh Mangalore, dubai, one should understand other side the conductor too. When all people give bigger Note ,from where he can give change to everybody?Better we take enough change so that quick issue of ticket is carriedoff. In a rush he cant or will not give.People who travel daily ,or know the rate help by taking the needed change.Dont always blame others,Just think how much he has to have change in a day.

The passengers should tender the exact fare to the Conductor. In every country, City bus passengers required to tender exact fare. Conductor does not give any change back. Pay exact fare or loose the change. It is your choice.

It's always better to have any toll free number inside the buses to register the complaints.

Quote "Police have advised the public to pay money only if ticket is provided in private buses."
Don't think this advice is feasible. Cause no conductor will issue ticket unless he gets money first, now No passenger will pay unless he gets a ticket.
What comes first ? Chicken or the Egg ???
No any force on this planet can improve City Bus situation in Mangalore, unless these Drivers and Conductors wants to Change themselves.
May be, I say May be, a compulsory training center could bring little change in the attitude of these Bus employees.

Don't pay means then galata will start in side the bus and it lead to disturbanceing in DK. I feel it is better to cancel the licence of particular bus. Or if it is possible than Nationalise the bus routes. I request not to give scope for disturbance.

EXCELLENT INITIATIVE WHEN ELECTIONS ARE FAST APPROACHING. WHY ALL THESE DRAMA ?MIGHT BE IN GOOD SLEEP ALL THESE DAYS AND SUDDENLY WOKE UP AS IF THEY THEY HAVE TOTAL CONCERN ON PUBLIC. IF THEY ARE REALLY CONCERNED LET THEM HAVE SURPRISE VISITS AND FINE . THEN EVERYTHING WILL SET RIGHT ONCE FOR ALL .
WHY NOT CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS FOR BUSES STRICTLY NOT FOLLOWED ?
WHY CAN'T KSRTC SERVICE BUSES PLY ON MANGALORE - UDUPI HIGHWAY. ALL ROUTES NEED TO HAVE SERVICE BY KSRTC AT LEAST TO SOME EXTENT SO THAT SENIOR CITIZENS CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.
WHEN JD-S WAS IN POWER IT HAS INTRODUCED KSRTC SERVICE BUSES ON HIGHWAY AND LATER WITHDRAWN ON RECEIVING SUITCASE. THIS SORT IS NOT ALL EXPECTED.

According to me our Bus Conductors are the best, they always try to tender change (unlike Blore bus conductors), they take charge only two to five rupee for school kids for dropping to any destination. And if you board wrong bus, they will not charge any money or advise to board another bus which is scheduled to reach your destination. 95% are good and well mannered., people who are complaining should be the bus owners for not issuing ticket, don't think any general public is involved.

There is no meaning if one say owner has to spend money for ticket/machinery. Then let him not spend on fuel too.
