Chikkamagaluru, Jul 7: As the monsoon fury continues to lash the district, the Charmadi Ghat region in Mudigere taluk has been hit by torrential rains and enveloped in a thick blanket of fog, causing severe hardships for motorists.
Visibility has dropped drastically along National Highway 173, which connects Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts. Due to the dense fog and continuous downpour, drivers are struggling to see oncoming vehicles clearly, forcing them to navigate the treacherous ghat curves at a snail's pace.

The heavy downpour has also activated several seasonal waterfalls along the hillsides, creating breathtaking views that are attracting tourists. However, with the increased risk of skidding and poor visibility elevating the threat of accidents, authorities have strongly urged commuters to exercise extreme caution.
With the India Meteorological Department forecasting the wet spell to persist in the region for the next few days, motorists traveling through the Charmadi Ghat stretch have been advised to remain alert and drive safely.
