Previous governments ignored Patel's legacy: Modi

New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday slammed "previous governments" for ignoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy to unite the country.

"India is a country full of diversity. 'Unity in Diversity' is our speciality," Modi said while flagging off the 'Run for Unity' on the birth anniversary of the first deputy Prime Minister at the Dhyan Chand Stadium here.

Apparently targetting previous governments led by the Congress party, Modi said: "People earlier tried their best to ensure that the contribution of Sardar Patel was forgotten and diminished."

"But the people and the youth of India respects him and his contribution towards the building of our nation," the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting the contribution of Patel, Modi said: "Using his skills, and determination Sardar Patel saved India from the problems that emerged soon after Partition.

"He ensured India did not remain split into small princely states."

Modi also emphasised that "our country should remain one". "The country that Patel has given, retaining its unity is the responsibility of all Indians."

"Therefore, all generations should know how he maintained that unity. We are celebrating his birth anniversary as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas'," Modi said.

Referring to the nation's first President Rajendra Prasad, Modi said: "Today his soul will be happy to know that Sardar Patel has not been forgotten."

Modi also remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 33rd death anniversary.

Mr. Feku Maharaj, Sardar Patel was a KATTA Congress man and he HIT all your CHADDI Bakhts BELOW THE BELT whenever he encountered them . Even Former Prime Minister (NOT PM -as per Mr. Owin's definition for PM is P- previous governments critic, M-Modi) didn't wanted to ban RSS but Sardar didn't agree and he banned the RSS.
If we go through the same FORMULA of Bharatiya Jokers Party, days are not far, that they will OWN iron lady Indira Gandhi and bestow the title on her "DURGA" of India, because she also hit them below the belt during EMERGENCY!!!!! Bharatiya Juumla Party's people damn scared of people from opposition camp!!!!VERY SOON SAME FEKU WILL START PRAISING PAPPU!!!!!! LAGE RAHO FEKU BHAI!!!!!

Modi is in a permanent campaign. He has no achievements to his name after three years as Prime Minister. The Patel legacy speech is campaign speech aimed at Gujaratis. Modi is playing the "Congress is anti-Gujarati and Congress has hurt the sentiments of Gujaratis" card.

One important judicial reforms Modi government should implement without any fear...
Court should start functioning morning sharp 9 o'clock.
People should not keep waiting for judgement forever.
Court should work till 6 o' clock mandatorily.
All summer and winter holidays should be cancelled.
And for law suits notice period should be reduced from 90 days to 30 days for all cases.
It will speed up judiciary like anything.
If they do not implement these changes then there is no difference between modi government and MMS government...

Very good suggestion. Plus, all pending cases should finish on priority 24 hrs/shift basis. Why so much govt holidays. They should serve for the people right?

    Hon. P.M. Modiji,
Why then most of the people dethroned previous regime and elected you / your Govt?
He should realize people have aspirations from him, is no more in opposition party like before.
Should be positive. Speaking negativity most of the time, that too when he is in a on top most position of the Country is unhealthy!

You have pushed nation almost on to the verge of distruction. Basic needs moving away from common man. Tell the people of India what are the current prices of consuming goods comparing to the previous govt. The predictions of great economist Manmohan singh and Chidambaram has comes true on Demonit and GST. Please focus on something new which can uplift the livelyhood of common man.

Is the illustrious leader the PM of India or the PM of Gujarat?

So far the achievements are only in the Gujarat basket:
    * 110,000 Bullet Train for the Gujaratis
    * Possibly 5,000 crores/year Bullet Train operational projects in Gujarat
    * A statue for Vallabh Bhai Patel (Made in China) to be erected in Gujarat

BTW, when the same Vallabh Bhai Patel, as part of the Congress Party, organised the 1942 Quit India movement, certain groups including RSS were in the opposite camp! Patel wanted to send the British away, but the other groups wanted to keep the British, letting Patel end up in jail!

Now the same groups are busy calling Patel their hero!

Just to please Gujaratis, Santa uncle is defending his election & statue building from tax payers money
If so interested in building statue why can’t BJP fund the project or else our temple run specialist and beta bachao andolan patron Sri Jay Shah donate from his 16000% growth rate company
