Bengaluru: Cancellation of registration of sub-100 cc bikes, HC sends notice to government

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 1: High Court issued notice to state government, based on the several writ petitions it has received, on the order of cancellation of pillion riding and registration of two-wheelers below 100 cc engine capacity.

TVS Motor Company Limited Chennai and Hero Motor Corporation Indiranagar have filed petitions in the High Court citing the October 10 order of the state government as unscientific and against the law.

One-member bench of judge B A Nagaratna conducted enquiry on the petitions submitted in this regard on Tuesday, October 31 and sent notice seeking explanation on the objection from state transport department, subordinate secretary of department and commissioner of road and safety, who are the defendants in this case.

The enquiry is postponed to November 3.

Court has made compulsory helmet for the rider as well as for the pillion rider also . Just see how many are following the rule. The government should see the rule is followed strictly and the fine amount of Rs 200/- is not sufficient should be increased to Rs 5,000/- for rider and Rs 2.500/- for pillion rider. The insurance co should pay during the accidents death only if the rider and pillion rider are wearing helmets . Instead of banning 100cc for 2 riders pass strict laws where the rules are broken.

but what's point of all this rules when all the roads so bad and worst to travel even for the single bike rider? does anyone can dare to put fine on the government for doing such cheap job? first do that, then put fine on the bike riders. First repair and give the good condition roads that last for at least 20 years and then see how that impacts the bike and other vehicle accidents. Most of the accidents these days are due to bad roads. All tax payers and toll money gone in pockets of the contractor and minister. First give solution to these issues.

This government introduces bike ambulances but pillion rider not allowed on less than 100 cc bikes ridiculous. Perhaps move to get funds before elections from two wheeler companies.

Most of people are middle class and poor. We can't afford higher CC bikes. May be CM got percentage from Automobile companies. If govt concerned with safety of people then maintain good road, footpath and drainage.

Public safety is in govt mind. With so many deats in two wheeler accidents its always better to restrict peoples movement on 2 wheeler which have high rate of accidental deaths. School children to be made to travel in scholl buses with reduced fares to help parents. Think positive instead of always finding fault with govt.

Mr. Stan, please come & witness the traffic system in India, then comment.

    This rule is really silly.

First you try to minimize the traffic accidents by strictly applying the traffic rules.

I am working on this project to minimize Traffic accidents during my free hours, the first answer from Traffic department is WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH STAFF.

But, some of the on duty Traffic officer busy reading whatsapp messages, some are tired standing under sun and try to relax under shade. (I have enough Photographs & Video)

    The following are the main causes for the increase in traffic accidents;
    1. Over speeding
    2. Driving opposite direction to save fuel & time by using short cuts. (It is an offence)
    3. Heavy Vehicles driving on speed tracks without giving way to vehicle behind them
    4. Over taking on wrong sides.
    5. Two wheelers & Three wheelers always rush on wrong side without following traffic rules.
    6. Two wheeler riders not wearing Helmets
    7. Triple rides on two wheelers
    8. Bad roads with so many pot holes
    9. Buses parking on main road instead of stopover area.
    10. Vehicles using high voltage Beam lights & excess head lights during night which disturbs the opposite driver.
If the Government take care of all the above points by strictly applying Traffic rules then automatically Traffic accidents will reduce.

Instead state should ban children below 16 travel in bike riding or pillion or any other way...see pic.
In that case children life can be saved.
Also look at auto rickshaw carrying unlimited school children as well..
