Bengaluru, Nov 1: Outpatient department (OPD) medical services will not be available to public throughout the state on Friday, November 3. This was announced by state unit of Indian Medical Association. The association is demanding the state government to abolish certain points that are detrimental to both the doctors of private hospital and the public, in the proposed amendment that is to be made to the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPME) 2017.

A statement released by the association said that they are available for open discussion on this issue and if they do not get any response from the government, then the members will give up their profession on November 9 or November 10. Meanwhile, a meeting is called for in this regard at Kaveri, residence of chief minister, at 10 am on November 2.

Speaking at the press conference that was organized at the office of the association, Dr H N Ravindra, president, state unit of Indian Medical Association said, "we have made several appeals to the government to abolish certain points in the proposed amendment that is to be made to KPME of 2017. However, the government is not responding to the same. The disasters, the points in question may cause, is already upheld by the committee led by retired judge Vikram Sen. It is condemnable that the government is going ahead with the amendments in spite of the report of the committee."
