Bengaluru, Nov 2: High drama prevailed when over 50 members of Kannada Kasturi Janapara Vedike, a pro Kannada organisation, tried to vandalize English signboards and banners at the MG Road-Brigade Road junction on Wednesday morning. They were arrested by the Ashok Nagar police.

Despite a government rule that 70% of the words on the signboards should be in Kannada, many shopkeepers have not implemented the rule, lashed out protestors. They were prevented by the police when they tried to vandalise the property.

If the police had not intervened, the protesters had plans to blacken English signboards from MG Road up to Attibele.

It’s really very sad to see how people vandalise public property. They want the development to happen. And still destroy the property. Why people in our state(Karnataka) are too obbessed with their state language? Even I respect it. But that doesn’t mean I should destroy things to make it more popular. That doesn’t make any sense. Those who really respect it, they respect other language too. Humanity should be that. I hope to see a better world than this in future, where there won’t be communalism and regionalism.

I have no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. It’s just a thought

These so called Kannada activists instead of promoting their language in good ways like encouraging Kannada folk, art etc. in the metropolitan city, Bangalore, are indulging in this shameful acts.
You don't deserve to be called Kannadigas. No language says to put down other language.
If you have even a bit of sense, dear Kannada Kasturi Janapara Vedike guys, try doing some good in name of your language. Here you are just seem like fools in front of Nation.
