Karkala: School vehicle driver-teacher couple donates their organs

Karkala, Nov 2: A couple residing in Ayyappa Nagar, Kukkundur here has come forward to donate organs after death so that those may be useful for others.

Their decision stunned the audience and those who were present on the stage during a Rajyotsava programme here.

N Shivananda Prabhu and Poornima Prabhu are the ones who have come forward for the noble work.

Shivananda Prabhu is a school vehicle driver. He has flung flag of Karnataka and hung 'Kannadada Kanda', board in the vehicle to show his love towards Kannada. He has also indulged in social work for many years. He has written and directed dramas and acted in Yakshagana.

Poornima Prabhu is a teacher by profession in Moodbidri Alva’s Institute.

Shivananda and Poornima Prabhu have received applause from all quarters for their gesture.

They have handed over their agreement to Dr Sathish Nayak from KMC Hospital in the presence of Karkala tahasildar Mahadevaiah.

Shivananda Prabhu and Poornima Prabhu couple was felicitated on the occasion.

Taluk panchayat president Malini J Shetty, Udupi district panchayat education and standing committee president Udaya S Kotian, municipal council president Anitha R Anchan, vice president Giridhar Nayak, district panchayat members Sumith Shetty Koudooru, Jyothi, Divyashri, Reshma and others were present.
