Sharjah, Nov 5: The publication house, Shanthi Prakashana from November 1 to 11 is participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair. Besides being a great moment for UAE Kannadigas who are Kannada literature readers and an inspiration to others to begin the habit of reading, this is a proud event for Karnataka.
Every year the government of Sharjah organizes this International Book Fair in the first ten days of November. Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Dr Shaik Sulthan Bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi is the motivational force behind this exhibition. This is the 36th inaugural year of the book fair attended by book lovers and literature lovers from all over the world. The fair began in 1982 and today it ranks third in the world.
Shanthi Prakashana publishes books on different features including religious, social, political, economical and cultural themes. Till date it has more than 280 titles and three mobile literature vans roaming the streets of Karnataka to spread human values and establish an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood. At the inaugural ceremony of Shanthi book stall, the founder, president and managing director of Gulf Medical College, Ajman and Thumbay group - Thumbay Moideen said that Shanthi Prakashana is the one and only kannada publisher out of 1650 publishers from around the world participating in here making this a very proud moment for every NRI Kannadiga living in and outside UAE.
President of Abu Dhabi Kannada Sangha Sarvotthama Shetty said, "Shanthi Prakashana is a value based publication house and must grow higher." Sarvotham Shetty also released the new title of the book 'Sneha Samvada'. The occasion was also a platform for many book releases. The vice president of Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), Dubai, M E Muloor released the title 'Makkala Tarabeti Hege', while president of Bearys welfare Forum Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Ali Uchil released the book of AK Kukkila, editor of Sanmarga Kannada weekly 'Enne Battida Lateenu'. Another title 'Qur Aanina Baduku' was released by the president of Kannada Sangha, Sharjah Sundar Raj Bekal.
"There is no fable in Shanthi`s publications. Mutual understanding between religions will eradicate disbelief and promote space for human values. This is the ultimate goal of Shanthi Prakashana through literature. Three mobile vans roam through Karnataka carrying Shanthi’s literature of peace and harmony said J B Abdul Salam U in his speech.
Prominent NRI guests of honor from states of South India who attended the remarkable event were Arif Shareef, Abdul Qadeer, BCF Dubai vice president Abdul Lateef Mulki, Noel D Almeda from Konkani Saahitya Parishat, Kannada writer Irshad Moodubedre, Noor Ashfak Karkala, Multi Biz Trading Ismail Balehonnuur, Abdul Rasheed V K, Riyaz C A Puttur.
Convener of Shanthi book stall Abdul Salam Deralakatte recited verses from holy Quran along with Kannada and English translation and Abdul Khadar Kukkaje compered the programme.
