Bengaluru, Nov 5: Income tax (IT) department has served notice on energy minister, D K Shivakumar, to present himself in its office along with mother, wife, brother and children on November 6. This will be the minister's seventh appearance in front of the IT officials, who are probing allegation of illegal accumulation of wealth. On previous occasions, the officials had obtained various statements from him, it is gathered.
The department has asked the minister to come with mother, Gowramma Kempegowda, wife, Usha, children, and his brother, D K Suresh, for inquiry. The department is learnt to have instructed him not to bring the auditor during the visit.
Reacting to the notice, Shivakumar said that he will appear for the inquiry along with family members on Monday as per the notice of the IT department and that he has been cooperating with all types of investigation in tune with the Indian constitution and laws. He said he is always prepared to face any problems and situations and that no one can muffle his voice.
The hearing relates to raids and searches conducted by the department at various places belonging to the minister and his family members and family concerns during August this year.
