Mangaluru: Soldier bitten by snake could not get injections - then came Khader

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 6: Minister for food and civil supplies U T Khader, who has often come to the rescue of accident victims and other people in need, played the Good Samaritan once again on Monday November 6 when he extended a helping hand to a soldier.

Santosh Kumar, a resident of Mudipu and soldier in the Indian Army, was bitten by a venemous snake on Sunday November 5, and was rushed to a private hospital. The hospital staff told the family that Santosh needed 10 injections, but did not have them in stock.

Having no other go, Santosh's brother then called up U T Khader and narrated the situation to him. Even though it was past 1 am, Khader rushed to the hospital.

As there was no stock of the injections, Khader then got in touch with Wenlock government hospital and made the necessary arrangement. The injections were soon brought to the private hospital and administered.

Last year on October 12, Santosh had fought terrorists in Kupwara in Jammu and had sustained serious injuries.

AICC general secretary Venugopal who was in the city to participate in Congress functions, too visited Santosh in the hospital.

I wonder some people with so much venom are just waiting to spit in on others. Did Khadar arrange the snake. Who called Khadar at night? He did what he could then why do we fail to appreciate even the little he did with an open mind. Bye the way, empty heads don't know what open mind means.

I am seeing some people thanking Khader for timely action...
But I would like to see from other side...

Do lack of medicine does not show the poor show of present government?
Khader himself is minister. Did he make clear policy on medicines?
Or Khader desperately makes sure there is no medicine and come like a hero for publicity?

RSRB there is no big fool than you. What khader has to do , Its the job of the private hospitals to keep the stock of all type of injections. The injection were brought from wenlock hospital where there was sufficient stock. Do not take this as a political vendata. Think on humanitarian grounds.

Saving a life of Indian soldier is equivalent of saving nation. Mr.Santosh has already proved his patriotism taking bullet in Kashmir. This second life is come as gift and blessing from 'mother India'

It is the duty of Mr.Khader as a public servant and elected representative of Mangaloreans .

I appreciate Mr.Khader for his humbleness saving one precious life of our motherland.

A soldier puts his life and soul into his duty and people always talk a lot of a given opportunity to serve them.. Mr. Khader got an opportunity and he did the best possible to him. Across Party barriers this needs to be applauded.. Keep up your great work Sir

This is an ideal example of "Public Servant". Very few politicians and ministers respond so quickly and at an very odd hour. Mr Khader your call is beyond words.
This is called ' Deeds speaks for itself ' than thousand fake bhashans, empty swearings and promises and fooling people without any deeds they are elected for and on the contrary indulging in creating disharmony and causing destruction in the country.

I think all ambulance should have these anti venom injection..
What is it cost one injection?
Different snake bites need different injection or the same?
    Experts please explain

The commonly used snake antivenom injection is a mixture of 3 different snake antivenoms. So the same injection is used for treating 3 common snake bites - cobra, viper and krait.
It should not be administered in the ambulance because it can cause severe allergic reactions. Better to give it in the hospital under supervision of expert doctors. The antivenom also has to be stored in the refrigerator.

Very good Mr. Khader. Much appreciated. But kindly make sure that things like snake venom antidote are easily transferable on request from other hospitals. Many times you may not be available for personal intervention. Snake bite victims have very little time on their hand.
