New Delhi, Nov 8: At present, there are no plans to disconnect mobile numbers if it is not linked with the Aadhaar number of consumers, said DoT Secretary Aruna Sundararajan on Tuesday.

The Department of Telecom is waiting for the Supreme Court’s verdict on Aadhaar linking to decide on the action against those who do not want to link their mobile number with Aadhaar, she said.

The Department is looking into alternatives to facilitate people working aboard to link their mobile numbers with their UIDAI number, she added.

Meanwhile, Telecom minister Manoj Sinha asserted that the government is aiming to provide mobile connection and not disconnection. The measures are taken to prevent people misusing the system. The mobile subscriber can also re-verify their numbers through Aadhaar without visiting telecom retail outlet by using One Time Password (OTP), he added.

This central government is hell bent on making aadhar mandatory on each and everything without any vision and plan. The personal details available through aadhar card can be misused and this government will say we have no role in it. Supreme court must make Aadhar voluntary . There is no specific law or proper system in place to protect privacy of citizens of India enrolled in Aadhar.

What a nonsense, my number already disconnected, what about that. This is strange in India the rules are changing every now and then without any notice. Same like RBI changed rules every day during demonetization, then about adhar card link, and now mobile phones and God know what is next. This is exactly Tugalaq time.

Govt should be responsible in giving statements on linking of Aadhaar to mobile or otherwise. We public read lot of news on this matter since long and anxious about the fate at rural levels.Let govt maintain their living standard and and cut of them from rest of the world on aadhaar linkage matter.Dont frighten them on technological issues and give time and let them enjoy hard earned freedom in 1947.
