Prostitution has nosedived after demonetisation: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Bhopal, Nov 8 (PTI): Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday claimed that flesh trade and trafficking of women had reduced substantially in the country due to demonetisation.

He also claimed that the economic move brought down the number of stone-pelting incidents in Kashmir and put a check on Naxal activities.

"Flesh trade has nosedived in India. Trafficking of women and girls has gone down considerably," the law minister told reporters at Bhopal while listing the "achievements of demonetisation", a day before the Congress-led opposition's proposed "Black Day" protest.

"Due to the flesh trade, a huge amount of cash used to flow to Nepal and Bangladesh...Notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 (now junked) were used to make payments in the flesh trade, which has now come down," he said.

Prasad claimed that the note ban reduced the number of stone-pelting incidents in Kashmir, put a check on Naxal activities, increased the provident fund (PF) and insurance cover of the employees immensely and gave a huge push to digital transactions.

"I have the data," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, speaking in poll-bound Gujarat, had claimed that the note ban exercise was a failure.

"None of its (note ban) objectives was achieved," he had said during an interactive session with businessmen and traders on the current state of the economy.

If this is indeed true and Ravi Shankar Prasad actually said it could the Hon’ble Law Minister please enlighten us which government department tracks prostitutes & keeps a tab on their earnings? The nation wants to know.
If Demonetisation & GST are such a smashing success then why is the GDP clocking 3.7% at the 2004-05 base year? The worst in 38 years back to 1979 levels. Why is investment by domestic corporates in economy at 1990 levels?
Crimes against women reported every two minutes in India. As many as 2.24 million such crimes were reported over the past decade, crimes against women are reported every hour, or one complaint every two minutes.
Kidnapping and abduction of women is up 264% (a more than three-fold increase) over the past ten years, from 15,750 cases in 2005 to 57,311 cases in 2014. Uttar Pradesh is the worst-affected state, with 58,953 cases reported.
Madhya Pradesh (34,143) reported the highest number of rape cases in the last decade followed by West Bengal (19,993), Uttar Pradesh (19,894), Maharashtra (19,177) and Rajasthan (18,654).
The estimated number of sex workers in India is three million, of whom 1.2 million are below 18 years of age, according to this 2013 report by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Mr.Prasad statements can't be taken seriously.
The people of this country are watching all this happen right under their noses. “You can fool all the people some of the time or some of the people all the time,” goes the first half of a famous saying. What Modi is figuring out is that it is difficult to fool all the people all the time.

All congress supporters are proved brainless!
First of all the minister never used the word Prostitution, he said Flesh trading.
Please read the statement from Nobel prize winner Kailash Vidhyarthi " Child trafficking badly hit by demonetization"
Child trafficking and flesh trade from poor states like West Bengal, UP, Bihar is all flourished with black money.
Please check the fact of Telgi, who thrown 93 Lakhs in one night on a bar dancer.
Yesterday RS 32 Crores old currency seized from terrorists.
Just for the sake of opposing don't ignore the fact.

Apart from other three more benefits of demonetization,
    1. Congress started talking about black money.
2 Kejri ka muh pe taala lag gaya!

A totally ridiculous and laughable statement by this sycophant of Modi. But on a second thought I feel he could be right because on account of demonetisation and loss of jobs, the income of several people would have come down. They are left with less money to visit the prostitutes. However, there could be another angle to this also. Due to lower income, the prospective customers of prostitutes cannot eat dates and almonds due to which they are unable to have the urge to visit prostitutes. Readers who are more knowledgeable on this subject may be in a better position to explain. Or is the minister quoting from his personal experience? Has his income also been affected?

Desperate attempt by politicians to convince educated people on demonetization benefits. Running a country is not as simple as running tea stall. Accept the mistake, apologize to the nation and gracefully step down instead of arguing on the subject which is well known to each and every citizen. If EVMs are not tampered, Gujarat election result will prove the success and failure of GST and demonetization.

Wow.. when does this fellow gone to check this.. What a bizarre thinking...
Demonetization as per PM on his mitron speech on 08/11/2016 at 8 pm was to address only 3 objectives
    1) Black money
    2) Corruption
    3) Terrorism
All these objectives are a total failure. Become a joke to all news makers of India and abroad.
Once these failed, now all and sundry invents new objectives such as - prostitution, naxalism, digital economy, development, financial discipline, tax compliance, bank recapitalization, swachch Bharat, and what not ...
It appears that the team is full of not only illiterates but also idiots who try to fool the honest citizens of our great country.
