Teenager confessed to crime in front of his father: CBI

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI): The Class 11 student of Gurgaon's Ryan International School, apprehended by the CBI for allegedly killing a seven-year-old student, has confessed to his crime in front of his father and an independent witness, the agency has told a juvenile court.

In its note seeking remand of the 16-year-old student from the juvenile court in Gurugram yesterday, the agency said that his custodial interrogation was needed to ascertain if there were other people involved in the crime.

The agency also wants the teenager to identify the shop from where he had purchased the knife used to slit throat of Pradhuman, a Class 2 student, on September 8, the agency told the court.

The CBI said the interrogation was needed to reconstruct the scene of crime, to unearth conspiracy, if any, and to collect any other evidence related to the case.

"He has admitted his involvement in committing the murder of...in ground floor boys washroom of Ryan International School...in presence of his father..., independent witness, welfare officer of the CBI, etc.," the note said.

The court has sent the juvenile to three-day CBI custody.

In a sensational twist to the case, the agency announced yesterday that it had apprehended a senior student of Ryan International School on Tuesday night in connection with the murder of Pradhuman rejecting the Gurugram police's theory that the killing was the handiwork of school bus conductor Ashok Kumar.

The CBI has said that there was no evidence against Kumar so far.

According to the agency, the Class 11 student, believed to be weak in his studies, allegedly slit Pradyuman's throat to get the school to declare a holiday in order to defer a scheduled parent-teacher meeting (PTM) and an examination.

The agency did not find any evidence of sexual assault, a CBI spokesperson had yesterday.

The CBI was able to piece together elements of the crime by analysing CCTV footage, scientific and forensic examination, analysis of the crime scene and by questioning students, teachers and staff members of the school.

Based on CCTV footage and crime scene analysis, the agency examined all potential suspects and witnesses. The list included 125 teachers and students, sources said.

No use in blaming parents , nor school, nor bus driver / conductor. It's society which we only built is responsible. they get to see all the crime serials / episodes in channels, discuss among themselves.... remember children are there in home just 3 to 4 hours in the evening and an hour or 2 in the morning. Rest of the day they spend with their friends in school. Key factor will be his group in which he mingles... if the child is in mid of a group of good students.. no worries. if they are in mid of so called bad guys, they can easily get in to all these thoughts. so, I recommend to keep an eye on the circle of his friends and their background.... any ways, heights of inhumanity by a 11th class student...

I fully agree with you, but you tell me how?

Saying is easy and doing is very difficult.

Even though you inform the parent, still, parents supports their children's wrong doing and they claim he is innocent; he is being framed. They try to blame the teacher only not the child. This is the current situation.

Haven't you read, the 16 year old Class XI student's father claimed his son is innocent....

Something is seriously wrong with our youngsters. While the agency finds that the senior student went to the extent of killing his junior just for getting exams postponed, his father until recently told that his son is innocent. The man is raising a heir who committed a murder for his own unpreparedness for exams.

It could have been well possible that the father/son had a cordial relationship to discuss problems than being two polarizing forces. Education is priority but not at the cost of another student's life. If he wasn't ready, he could have told his father about it than committing a crime that will permanently cripple his education.

I have a feeling that school counselors aren't vigilant enough to sight students' problems.

Innocents are framed everywhere. Because the these innocents are poor and do not know what is law and cant by law. People who masacre people get clean chit. People who drink and drive and kill people get clean chit. No values for poor and innocents here. Live like a donkey.

How come, the police came to such conclusion without proper investigation. who will compensate the poor bus conductor for this humiliation and most importantly police treatment while interrogation during police custody. Does he have a right to file a defamation case against those who involved in the case.
