Mysore, Jue 28: Friday June 27 will be remembered as a black day for Mysoreans, who lost two scholars on this day.
Narayan Rao, GN Chakravarthy
Noted vedic scholar Professor G N Chakravarthy (97) passed away after a prolonged illness, at a private hospital at around 1 am.
Science and Mathematics scholar, Professor G T Narayan Rao breathed his last at another hospital in the morning, following a brain haemorrhage.

He began his career as a teacher at Sri Manmaharaja Sanskrit College here, before donning the role of Professor and HoD (Sanskrit) at St Philomena’s College.
He had also served as UGC Research Professor, University of Mysore, for five years and retired in the year 1976.
Chakravarthy was a recipient of Sediyapu Award, Kannada Rajyotsava Award (2007) and Veda Ratna Award (the National Award given by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan).
Professor Chakravarthy was cremated in the evening, in the presence of alarge number of his relatives.
Narayan Rao
Narayan Rao, who was more popularly known as GTN, was also a music critic and columnist.
He was rushed to hospital on Thursday evening after he felt a sense of uneasiness at around 7 pm.
A family member said that Narayana Rao’s body was donated to JSS Hospital in the City for research purposes, according to his last wish.
