Kundapur, Nov 28: MLA Gopal Poojary on Tuesday, November 28 laid the foundation stone for multi-village drinking water project near Koni Mahalingeshwar temple in Nada gram panchayat limits here.

Addressing the formal programme held later in Nada gram panchayat premises here, the MLA said, "Nobody came forward even after inviting tenders for the work. Finally we are getting the work done by Mangaluru-based contractor Anil Kumar Shetty.

"The project will enable supply of drinking water at Hakladi and Maravanthe. I will hold discussions with the officials concerned and ensure that the project is a success. Meanwhile, another project to convert sea water to drinking water is in progress at Shiroor and Paduvari," he said.

District panchayat member Babu Hegde, taluk panchayat vice president Praveen Kadke and others were present.

Presently, water is being lifted from borewells and supplied for drinking purposes under multi-village project. But in the new project, water will be lifted from Sowparnika river and transferred with the help of a 40 HP machine to the purification unit being constructed at Kadke. The purified water will be sent to water tank with the capacity of 25 lac litres. It will be sent to various taluks with tankers and then to houses from there. Metres are being installed for main and sub pumps to measure each litre of water going out. The company which has undertaken the project has said that the work will be completed in a year.

    Good move by our MLA.
Second plan that of using sea water to drinking water is most demanded project bcoz instead making dams and wasting tax payers money using sea water is the cheapest way to convert salt water to sweet water.
so, i suppose this is groundbreaking project, it will be a leading project for other districts , or states or even for INDIA.
Here in Dubai this is been from so many years, so now our GOVTS( state and central) shd start these projects it will save time and money, not only that the land.
