Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza slams MP Nalin for delay in Moodbidri road work

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Dec 1: MLC and chief whip of Karnataka Legislative Assembly Ivan D'Souza on Friday, December 1 slammed MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for not pressurizing the central government to construct a 4-lane road between Moodbidri and Mangaluru.

Addressing media here, Ivan said, “After continuous protests from locals, the patchwork of potholes on national highway 169 was taken up. I was part of the protest at Gurupur Bridge along with the locals. I will not rest until the construction work of the 4-lane road between Moodbidri and Mangaluru is started,"

“At the zero hour during Belagavi session, I had questioned about the repair of the road. A proposal of Rs 17.50 crore was submitted to the central government. But the National Highway Authority has not yet approved the same. I also drew the attention of officials about this road at the KDP meeting. The district administration is ready to help NHAI, especially in the case of land acquisition," he added.

“I request our MP Nalin Kumar to do something about it. He can pressurize the central government and get it done. But from the past ten years in his tenure as an MP, he is sitting silently and mocking the protests of the locals. He does not seem to have any interest in helping the locals solve the issue of bad roads. D V Sadananda Gowda and Shobha Karandlaje are also from this area and they know the problems of people. But they are not bothered about it. They are busy with speeches. Speeches cannot solve problems. We need collective efforts to convert this road as a 4-lane highway," he said.

“It is my sincere request that NHAI should shift their office from Shivamogga to Mangaluru. How can they manage or control the construction process sitting at a place far from the project area?” questioned Ivan.

Rehabilitation of beedi workers

“There are no beedi industries now. Majority of our women involved in beedi industry have no jobs now and are facing financial problems. A three and half an hour of discussion was held on the issue at the session. The government has assured me that the former beedi workers would be trained in tailoring and garment industry. They will be paid a stipend of Rs 3,500 for 45 days of training along with a sewing machine," he informed.

“That will help them to do tailoring job at their homes. Meanwhile, the government is also interested to start garment industries. These industries will give priority to trained women. The training centers are already functioning in 8 taluks. I request all beedi workers to make use of the opportunity and get trained,” he said.

Sauharda Christmas 2017

“We have been celebrating the festivals of all religions in the last two years. This is the month of Christmas. So on this occasion, we will organise a programme 'Sauharda Christmas 2017' on December 21 at Kankanady market ground. Minister Ramanath Rai will inaugurate the programme and mayor Kavita Sanil will preside over it. Ministers U T Khadar, Pramod Madhwaraj, former Union minister Oscar Fernandes and others will grace the event," he said.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel have you ever inspected the flyover work at Pumpwell Circle and NH 66 work?
Are you not responsible for the inordinate delay in NH 66 work? Can you not meet Minister Nitin Gadkari and ask him to monitor the work.If the present contractors are not able to execute the work make them to pay the penalty and change the contractors immediately. Should the public suffer for electing you?Do we need a smart city, if you are not able to complete the flyover work and NH 66 work?
People of Mangalore are not interested in your political games whether BJP or Congress. Tax payers money is looted everywere.Very sad thing. If possible Nalin Kumar Kateel, J.R.Lobo, Ivan D'Souza and others visit any of the Gulf countries and watch how the public works are executed there.

Dear MLC Ivan! Don't you know MP Nalini busy looking to burn yet another town? Leave him alone!
Let him list somw of his accomplishments besides burning & looting.
You might as well write to Mr. Gowda or better still our Dear Siddhu.

We had great dreams for DK but poor representation at the Center has hurt us - we just have to elect
someone like Mr. Lobo or YOU - Thank you for your interest and hard work for people of DK and
    Karnataka.
    Good Luck and BE WELL.

I can vouch with all my might, uncle Ivan is way lot better and effective than Burnol Uncle Nalinappa,
At least i can see Ivan raising issues and addressing them to larger extent, yes he needs to do more and show some good number, i am sure he will. He is more trustworthy than most of other MP's/MLA's of our state.

Rather than being a lame duck nalinappa, you should support growth of our region state, so support initiatives of other politicians who wants to do something good for people/place.
Although Nalin is a good guy, however he hasnt shown that in action, other than threatening to burn south canara, Its time to forget politics for the sake of development and for the larger welfare of the society

Moodbidri road work is very much necessary but for the time if we have discus about winning possibility?
To win an election to Ivan like person, in our Polarized region, it's very difficult.
Unless the person is exceptionally good, well accepted to all communities and must have a very good track record.
Mr. Lobo won because he had good image among all.

Dear Ivanji, why blame game? If Nalin is busy with searching fuel for flaming entire DK, Shobha is one step ahead@ searching fuel to flame entire Karnataka State, where is the time for them to sit and listen to the grievances of common man at ground level. They are elected MPs only once in five year they get time to beg for votes. Once they get votes you have to search them with torch in broad day light. We dont need hate speachers but the workaholics for betterment of common man without relegion bar.
