Mangaluru, Dec 3: Expert PU College, the region's top pre-university college, has ushered in a new era with its latest advertisement display. The college has installed a huge 28 ft 3D metal sign board atop the hill where the institution is situated. The board is visible from a long distance and is a perfect way to pay tribute to the education hub of Karnataka.

Since the inception of Expert PU College, the barren hill has become an educational centre which contributes to the socio-economic development of the surrounding area.

The 3D metal sign board worth Rs 6 lac is 28 ft in height (8.543 metres), 147 ft in length and has a depth of 2 ft. The sign board will soon enter into the Limca Book of Records for setting a record in terms of height (8.543 mtrs). Alamatti dam sign board at Vijaypura which reads 'Lal Bahadur Shastri Sagara' with a height of 8 metres is featured in the Limca Book of Records. Expert PU College sign board is now qualified to be in the record book.

Time Square

In addition, another beauty of Expert PU College is the LED lit 84 inch diametre clock at the entrance of the college. Beneath the clock is a wide spacious platform which is used for cultural events. The ground is set up in such way that there is an inclination of 3 ft from halfway down the ground, so that the platform is easily visible for students from a long distance and hence has been named as 'Time Square'.

Zero Discharge Campus

Expert PU College has two sewage treatment plants in the premises and not even a single drop of sewage is discharged from the campus. Through the STP, waste water gets purified and collects in the flush tank which is used for gardening. “We have bio-organic convertor where food waste is converted into manure and used for plants. Our motto is to grow lot of plants around the campus and make it green and an eco-friendly campus,” says Prof Narendra Nayak, chairman of Expert PU College.

Solar Panel

Nearly 165 KW of solar panel is installed on the rooftop of the college. Expert has a tie-up with Mescom which charges on the basis of net metreing system.

Ganapathy Temple

Next to Time Square, there is a beautiful Ganapathy temple where students gather to offer prayers and seek blessings before they step into the classrooms. Special poojas are offered every Sunday at 7pm and morning poojas during rest of the days.

Panoramic View from Expert PU College

Though the hill provided a panoramic view of the topographical beauty of the region, people used to rarely venture there. Now, thousands of students and other people can enjoy the scenic beauty. While, from one side, people can view the flow of river Netravati, on the other, they can see the rolling green hill sides of Mangaluru taluk.

Speaking to daijiworld, Prof Narendra Nayak says, "Inspired by the Hollywood sign board at Los Angeles, we installed the huge 3D metal sign board inscribed 'EXPERT'. We did not have any sign boards and hence planned to have a similar kind of sign board. It is a huge advantage that our campus is located in a hilly area and thus we plan to install the sign board on the slopes of the campus. We wanted to do it in a unique way and set an example. We are trying to enter into the India Book of Records, the process of which will be completed in the next 20 days. ‘EXPERT’ sign board is a beautiful sight on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway and can be easily viewed from a long distance."
