India-China meeting on border issue gets underway

New Delhi, Dec 22 (IANS): The annual meeting of the Special Representatives of India and China on their border issue got underway here on Friday.

"Shri Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser and the Special Representative of India and Mr. Yang Jiechi, State Councillor and Member of Politburo of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee and Special Representative of China holding the 20th Meeting of SRs in New Delhi," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

This is the first such meeting after Indian and Chinese troops were locked in a 73-day face-off earlier this year in Doklam region near the India-China-Bhutan trijunction.

Earlier this month, the Doklam issue came up for discussion during a meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here.

The last Special Representatives' meeting was held in Beijing in April 2016.
