Patna, Jul 15: At least 20 people were killed when a vehicle carrying a marriage party fell into a ditch early on Tuesday morning, police said.
"The dead include 10 women and nine children," Superintendent of Police (city) Anwar Hussain told PTI.
The tragedy occurred when the victims, all belonging to the bride's side, were returning to Janipur locality in Patna after solemnising the marriage in Alamganj in the old city area.
"It was raining heavily and the driver lost control of the vehicle which plunged into the ditch," he said.
All bodies have been fished out and sent for post-mortem, the SP said.
