Tumakuru: Siddaramaiah stresses on Modi's intervention to solve Mahadayi issue

Daijiworld Media Network - Tumakuru

Tumakuru, Dec 29: Only a mutual dialogue between Karnataka and Goa state leaders can solve the Mahadayi river water sharing dispute, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to the reporters in Tumakuru on Thursday, Siddaramaiah lashed at Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Yeddyurappa and alleged they are ‘performing political stunts’ which has also been confessed by Goa Water Resources Minister.

“When I had offered to go to Goa to speak with Parrikar, he asked me to come after the elections. Rioters are sick of their drama. The farmers are agitated as Karnataka BJP President B S Yeddyurappa had promised to bring 'good news' by December 15 but failed," he added.

“In my 40 years in politics, this is the first time that one party has staged a protest against another's office,” he said.

Siddaramaiah said that the Karnataka government was willing to begin discussions to solve water dispute at any time. He spoke on the need of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention and hoped he would mediate.

Statesman PM would be remembered for many generations but the Politician PM would be remembered for limited time. Now is the time for the PM to intervene in the Inter-State water dispute and find an amicable solution.
