Bantwal: Two including WhatApp group admin arrested for communal post

Bantwal, Jan 12: The Bantwal town police on Friday January 12 arrested two persons including the administrator of a WhatsApp group for insulting a lady and circulating communal and offensive messages.

The arrested are Balakrishna Poojary (48) of Uppinangady and Sathish, a resident of Ira in Bantwal.

Balakrishna is a driver of a KSRTC bus. He allegedly posted messages in WhatsApp groups that were demeaning to the modesty of a woman and could hurt religious feelings.

The messages were posted in groups named 'Mauri' and 'Pannolibail'.

Satish, the administrator of these groups was also arrested.

Police said that other WhatsApp groups are also being monitored for such messages.

A case has been registered under Sections 153 A, 354 and 504 of the IPC.
