The initiative is meant to help pedestrians and also regulate traffic. Students of the school will be seen donning special caps, epaulettes and stop signs on the road patrolling. According to the school authorities, this move will help elders take a leaf out of the book of these schoolchildren, thereby creating traffic discipline in the city.

This programme should be implemented almost in every busy junctions like Bunts Hostel, Nanthoor cross, as the erratic traffic user almost clogs the free and orderly movement of vehicles.

Congratulations to the Management of St.Theresa's school for this initiative. Atleast some people will learn some traffic sense from these children. RSP reminds me of my school days in Bombay. I was a primary student and used to watch the high school students do their regular training and parade in the school ground with their red caps and a RSP badge on their shoulders. Readers please don't mind, when I was in primary school we had a nickname for RSP...it was Road Side Pigs!!!

Well done children of St.Theresa. Your action is at the right time. Please keep it up. Please control these buses well. They are always in a hurry and continuously use horn, that too when they see a lady riding or driving. All the best. We lve you.

Our young students are already burdened with their heavy studies and other school related activities. Mangalore is full of retired and home bound people who sit at home and enjoy the fresh air!! - even if each of them spares 3 - 4 hours a day it would help them pass their time and also help the road congestion. In USA etc it is the senior citizens who do these kind of social acts - why cannot Mangalore follow the same.

St. Theresa's school has done the right thing in sensitizing the young minds on the need to have discipline in every sphere of life. It is these memories that will last a lifetime and make the youth better citizens of tomorrow. Congrats to the Traffic Police, Principal and Staff of St.Theresa’s school for organizing this function.

Very good start to traffic awareness. I would like to propose an extention to this and that is to appoint 10/15 children from among the Road Safety Patrol ( from each school if this scheme can be extended to all schools in the city of Mangalore)who will have authority from the Police to take down the Nos ( and maybe other vehicles too) of those buses that blatantly use an Air Horn that is banned by the Central Motor Vehicles Act.

These taken down nos with date and approx time/place should be handed over to the Inspector in charge ( from the Traffic Police) every morning ( names of the children complaing or their school name should be kept confidential). These complaints should all be tabulated at Traffic Police HQ and posted on the Police site so that the children will know their action of reporting errant vehicles are not in vain. The Police on their part should take action on the basis of these complaints in accordance with the provisions of law.

The school children are the worst affected by this cacophony of air horns as their ear drums are very fragile and damage prone. As for me, I cannot even stand at the Kankanady/Pumpwell junction for even 10 minutes without getting a noise related headache. Please Daijiworld/Traffic Police, the children of the city need this badly. I am sure the movement will spread like wild fire if only it is given a kick start.

Congratulations to St. Theresa's School Authorities for this great thought. It's good to create Traffic awareness to the younger generation so that they grow up with a better Traffic sense than the present.. In the times when traffic is growing in leaps n bounces in our city I feel it is imperative that we have some srious awareness of Traffic Rules..
