Bengaluru: Siddaramaiah best CM, Congress ahead of rivals in Karnataka - Survey

Bengaluru, Jan 26 (Deccan Chronicle): A survey conducted by Lokniti-CSDS, an independent research organisation would certainly bring cheer to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as a whopping 49 per cent people chose Congress over the nearest BJP which drew only 27 percent backing, and the JD (S), 20 per cent support.

To add to this is the approval rating of the CM. As many as 34 per cent of respondents want Siddaramaiah as chief minister after the assembly elections. Surprisingly, the BJP's CM candidate B S Yeddyurappa stands third with a mere 14 per cent while the JD (S)' H D Kumaraswamy got 19 per cent votes for the CM post. Curiously, Congress' leader in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge got a traction among respondents with 10 per cent backing him.

As part of the Mood of the Nation Survey, Lokniti-CSDS conducted an additional exercise to perceive the mood of people of Karnataka which will go to the assembly polls in three-to-four months. This survey focused on four major areas: performance of the incumbent government, who the respondents would prefer as the next chief minister, the important issues to be kept in mind while voting and finally, which party they would vote for in the assembly elections.

In the category of satisfaction, Bengaluru gives a thumbs down to the government with 55 per cent respondents said they were “somewhat dissatisfied”. Overall, only 11 per cent said they were “fully satisfied” and 46 percent said they were “somewhat satisfied”. The Congress party seems to have better image in smaller towns and cities which is the opposite of the trend in Bengaluru. The level of satisfaction was clearly much higher among non-dominant backward castes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and high level of satisfaction was shown by the respondents from southern Karnataka, Mumbai and Hyderabad-Karnataka.

The survey was conducted under the overall guidance of national co-ordinator of Lokniti, Dr Sandeep Shastri pro vice-chancellor of Jain, a deemed to be university.

For the question on who would they prefer as the chief minister, no names were suggested, Dr Shastri clarified. Women tended to support Siddaramaiah more than his nearest rivals and he was more popular in smaller towns and cities. Kumaraswamy got more backing in Bengaluru city while Yeddyurappa's support was uniform across rural and urban areas. He got greater support among Lingayats while Kumaraswamy got more among Vokkaligas. Kharge was mentioned more frequently by respondents from SC and other social groups. Among the issues, nearly a quarter said they would go by the track record of performance of the ruling party and that of the opposition.

Rural respondents gave more weightage on agriculture related issues, that is 11 per cent while those from the urban areas focused on development issues such as unemployment and price rise that is six percent.

Interestingly, in Karnataka nearly 47 per cent voters said they would vote for the Congress if Lok Sabha elections were held today and the BJP got the support of 27 per cent respondents and the Janata Dal (Secular), 20.

People who talka bout UP survey yielding positive result for Mr Yadav and then he lost..first of all you UP is far far away from Karnataka's development point of view.
Second is that north India has BJP vibes UP near to Rajasthan ,Gujrath geographical factors also matters.
Thirdly tamper EVM played massive role in UP.You may laugh at this but definitely if u make an secret survey in UP.You ll know the truth.BJP win was just firced on UP people's throat.

Coming to Karnataka price rise mentioned is absolutely not due to state govt.Sidhramaiyya's biggest victory is Indira canteen during the era of GST.No other state govt has the guts to do this.Nobody loves their middleclass n lower class people as much as state govt of karnataka does.THIS IS THE BITTER TRUTH.
CHECK THE NEWS OF UP FARMERS,THEY ARE CRUSHING THEIR POTATOES ON STREETS.

I am not holding a brief for Siddaramaih but I would like to draw the attention of the readers to the vast disparity in the working between him and Yeddyurappa. Under the BJP rule when Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister, the state was neck deep in corruption with the CM leading from the front. The leader of the corruption gang, Yeddyurappa had to face the ignominy of cooling his heals in jail. Compare that with the almost zero corruption under Siddaramaih. Of course, the image with blotted by the charges against D K Shivkumar. However, that apart, this government has by and large succeeded in giving a clean administration. Certainly, Siddaramaih has taken pains to see that the corruption has not gone out of hand. Corruption is still very much rampant in the government offices all over the state but when it comes to Siddaramaih, he has proved that he is much better than the totally corrupt Yeddyurappa. Don't go by what I say or write, the readers can judge for themselves. I would prefer that the BJP sits in the opposition - they can keep a hawk's eye on what is going on - but voting the BJP to power would prove suicidal for the state. The people made the mistake of electing the BJP and in turn the BJP looted the state to it's heart's content. Don't commit the same mistake dear readers. Siddaramaih has done a fairly good job and he deserves one more chance. A big no to the corrupt Yeddyurappa. What is the guarantee that he will not loot again?

When the election results are announced and congress won majority, most of us thought "congress, ah not again".Congress is the most corrupt party to be precise is what we've thought of.... Siddu (Siddaramaiah) proved us wrong to a little extent with some of his successful "Bhagyas".
"Anna bhaagya" is one of them which is very popular and has saved lots of lives of poor. There was again opposition from lots of people that it'll make the people lazy..But what do they know about "Starving"..This particular scheme of siddu received lot of appreciation.
Then the "Ksheera Bhagya".. In this scheme the government is providing 150ml of milk thrice a week to 65 lakh children in the state...This is again a very good scheme especially for the districts like raichur and other places where children are dying because of malnutrition..
How many of have seen in our childhood that our friends came to school without slippers and shoes? "Shoe bhaagya" is what siddu came up with to distribute shoes to children from poor background.
Although there are many CM's from BJP in the country, why did Modi invited siddu to participate in a meeting in china?(Although CM of maharashtra and Gujarat will be in china, they will not be PM's official entourage). "Swachh Bharat" another very good initiative from Modi is more successful in karnataka compared to any other states. This made Modi to offer siddu to be the convener of task force to implement "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".Mobileone was introduced which brings in most of the services in single app was ambulance was launched as well and it's been appreciated even by other parties and their followers. Announced a scheme for organ donation in the name of Harish(who donated his organs after his death due to an accident)Innovative in agriculture field by in introducing 'E-Mandi' and nanotechnology.
He was been ranked 3rd best CM of India by India Today awarded by none other than FM Arun Jaitley.
Though he has no charisma of SM Krishna but made his own.

The people of Karnataka have realised the damage done to the country by the three Muskiteers namely Modi, Jetley and Amit Shah. They have virtually taken the country back by ten years. No doubt Siddaramaiah has provided an Able and Stable Administration in Karnataka with All Round Development, Peace and Harmony . The people have seen through the Jhumla Politics of the BJP and their crude attempts to divide people.

But same people disagree with survey conducted for central govt with 18500 people and 66% fully agreed with PM.

The rating for the CM's may be correct due to lack of choice not efficiency. BJP has no good leaders in Ktaka and with Yeddi as the CM candidate is not acceptable to many BJPians as well . BJPs down fall may be imminent. On the other hand Cong retaining Ktaka on its own is also a big doubt. Arrogance, self goals, lawlessness ,overconfidence, corruption, shift in appeasement has led to anti incumbancy. Owaisi's entry too in not a good news for Cong. Perhaps with the help of some other parties like JDS etc, Cong may hold on.
