Mangaluru, Jan 27: A post is making waves in the social media, in which it is alleged that a passenger traveling to and from Mangaluru International Airport was used as a pawn to check the efficiency of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff deployed at the airport to carry out the security check of travellers.

A certain lady posted the message on Facebook about three or four days ago. It is mentioned in the post that message was forwarded from some other group. Since then, the post has been making the rounds in Facebook and WhatsApp.

The viral post states, "Forward from a group:Something serious happened with my daughter at Mangalore airport today. After taking boarding pass at Mangalore Airport she was approached by 2 CISF plain clothesmen. They asked her to keep a packet in her bag and said that they wanted to check whether their staff at security gate is working ok or not. She asked them for their IDs which they showed. She, however, declined to do so."

The post also alerts the public to be vigilant about such fake officers.

"When she told this to me, I called up a CISF officer posted in Ahmedabad as Commandant ONGC. She said that they never do such exercises using passengers. Please advise children to be careful of this racket," it said.

The message does not give information on the date of the incident.

When contacted, CISF office in Mangaluru also clarified that such exercises are not carried out, and said that only the passenger's bag was checked as per procedure. "For security reasons, we asked for her bag only for checking, which is a normal procedure. We gave her back the bag thereafter," an officer at CISF Mangaluru told daijiworld.
