Mangaluru: SJEC students hold 'Fun-Da-Raiser' in aid of Riya Foundation

Mangaluru, Jan 27: It was a memorable evening as fun blended with a noble cause undertaken by students of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor at City Centre Mall here on Friday January 26.

The fund-raiser event, aptly titld ‘Fun-Da-Raiser’ was organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC).

The event, which was an attempt to make a difference in the lives of others, was in aid of Riya Foundation, a therapeutic residential centre for people with special needs. The fund raised from the event would be donated for the enhancement of the Riya Foundation.

Special performance by Falcons Dance Crew received a thunderous applause from the audience. Youngsters of Desi Rock Band ‘Charitra’ rocked the audience with their songs.

Two of the main attractions of the event were performances of the specially-abled children of Riya Foundation and the students of SJEC.

The event turned out to be highly successful as visitors to the City Centre flocked around the stage. The onlookers also took active part in the spot games.

The event was compered by well-known anchor Hisrar Tallani, who kept the spectators engaged with loads of fun activities.

The founder directors of Riya Foundation Ashley and Keerthana, principal of SJEC Dr Joseph Gonsalvis were also present.

    The students getting involved with the Fund Raising activity during their "Student Era" is a marvelous idea. The students not only feel proud that they have accomplished something during their College era but they can also influence their parents and other family members to extend their hand of help in order to make the "Fund Raising" activity a fruitful and successful venture.

    The students are the best contributors of philanthropic activities within the four walls of their home. Some of the parents may not have the means to contribute a great deal but their mere moral support will suffice. Whereas there are many rich parents who will witness their children's initiatives and will come forward to give the very best to their children in order to gain the joy of being able to take part in their children's initiatives.

    St. Joseph's Engineering College is truly moving forward with the right incentives, and we therefore wish them best of success in all their future undertakings.
