Bengaluru: Man brutally assaults 9-year-old son, arrested after mother shoots video

Bengaluru, Jan 28 (Deccan Chronicle): An alert mobile technician exposed the brutality of a man, who mercilessly thrashes and kicks and throws his nine-year-old son against the bed for telling "lies".

The video was in the mobile phone of the boy's mother Shilpa that was given to the technician for repairs. After watching the shocking video, the technician leaked it to the media on Saturday.

The police arrested the father and rescued the boy, a class four student at a private school, after child rights activists filed a complaint. The father, Mahendra (32), a resident of Kengeri, worked in an IT firm.

The video that went viral on social media circles showed the father thrashing his son for lying to him. Mahendra first hits the son with a phone charger repeatedly and keeps asking him, "Will you lie again? Will you lie again?" He then lifts the boy up and throws him on the bed over and over again.

The video was shot by his mother, Shilpa and her voice is heard in the background, saying, "He did it again".

The boy keeps pleading, saying he will not lie again, but the father continues to slap the boy, lift him up and throw him on the floor. He then starts kicking the nine-year-old. Though the mother tries to intervene and stop the father saying, "It's enough, leave him...," he continues to kick the boy.

The police said that the brutality occurred about five months ago and it came to light on Saturday morning when it was aired on several news channels.

"We received a call from the police, who informed us about the video of a child who was physically abused by his father. We saw the video and immediately filed a complaint against the father and he was arrested. We spoke to the child and he is fine.

We will hand him over to his mother," said Kavitha, a social worker with Bosco and attached to the Special Juvenile Police.

DCP (West) Anucheth said that the police immediately acted against the father and arrested him under the IPC Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), IPC 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 82 in the Juvenile Justice Act (Care and Protection of Children).

A few days ago, the mother had given her phone for repairs and had asked the technician to have a backup of all the photos and videos. The man repaired the phone and recovered the photos and videos. That is when he saw the video of the man brutally thrashing his son and gave the video to media channels, the police said.

This is defenitely Not the way to treat children. Thr children need love and affection from parents ateast. The parents must bring up the kids with care and love. Nurture them and give them good mannera and habbits and values. If parents treat this way , later that kid may become a bad father or a bad person to society.
There are a lot of NGOs these days and their numbers are growing. Their credibility must be checked as to wheather they are worth becoming ngo.
Mother Teresa said " IF U WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD GO HOME AND LOVE YOUR FAMILY".
If people portray smiling face and loving nature outside and they they are cruel from heart at home and every one at home is cursing them, such people cannot bring change in society. They r just hungry of awards and selfies with celebrities.

Biggest mistake parents doing today is not engaging children as friends but dictators.Children need love and affection along with advice on discipline and life's goals.Parents should spend maximum time with their children instead of friends and relatives because their destiny in life is parents responsibility.

Off topic.- The mobile technician committed a serious breach of privacy by checking the video of the lady. In any other parts the accused would have counter charged case against him

This boy is lucky, however these things happen in hundreds of homes across the world. Most of those children grow up battered and suffering from mental trauma, and later on cause harm either to themselves or others. It is the duty of the relatives and neighbours to alert authorities, child welfare organizations, whenever they come across such incidents. It is very difficult to understand as to why couples have children, when they do not like kids or are in no position to take care of them.

BOTH PARENTS SHOULD BE stripped off their parental responsibility and the child should be taken care by govt. There is every chance of this child becoming criminal if allowed to live with their parents. The video is shocking and sending electric shock waves into the minds of people watching it.

Not only the father, the mother should also have been arrested. She wanted the son to be punished and wanted the punishment to remain as a reminder for the child so that he will not repeat offending. Do all parents hit their children to instill discipline ?

We are not living in primitive age when parents used burn their children's limbs as punishment. Today, if a child is no more wanted, there is a government wing to look after them and give in adoption to couples in need.

The couple is best childless !
