Kalaburagi, Jan 29: "All the governments have been indulging in politics in the matter of sharing of Mahadayi river water. People should teach them a fitting lesson during the election," felt social activist, Anna Hazare.

Anna said that like Mahadayi, the country is facing issues relating to several other rivers, but lamented the fact that there are not enough people willing to find a solution to the problem. He reminded the people that they have a key in the form of right to vote. "We should never sell our right to vote for money or liquor. No one should cast his or her vote to corrupt people and murderers," he said, speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday January 28.

Hazare said that a mega movement will be launched at Ramlila Maidan New Delhi on March 23. The demands include payment of pension of Rs 5,000 to farmers, fixing prices of agricultural products based on production cost, and implementation of Dr M S Swaminathan report, Hazare explained.

Anna noted that the condition of farmers in the country is precarious now and there has been an increase in the number of suicides. "The central government is busy in appeasement of industrialists. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has forgotten about promises he had made before the election. Although I wrote 32 letters to the Prime Minister about problems of farmers, I have not received any reply so far," he complained.
