Kundapur, Mar 3: “Panchayat raj system in three layers in the state is excellent. The system is strong, but it was not possible to utilize it completely. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen it further. Panchayat raj organizations will be able to perform well regardless of any government in power if those who are conducting the administration understand completely the subject and remain bound for their duties,” said member of Vidhan Parishad K Pratapchandra Shetty.

He was speaking after inaugurating the new office building of Nada gram panchayat constructed in association with the department of rural development and panchayat raj, zilla panchayat Udupi, taluk panchayat Kundapur and gram panchayat, Nada.

“The members elected in gram panchayat are not elected under any party symbol. The panchayat members who are elected as independents should respond to the pains of people and try sincerely to solve them. Elected representatives should respond to the feeling of the people. It is necessary to solve the problems through gram panchayat system and suitable forum,” he said.

Nada gram panchayat president Jane Mary Olivera chaired the programme. Udupi district panchayat education standing committee president Babu Shetty, Kundapur taluk panchayat vice-president Pravin Kumar Shetty Kadke, taluk panchayat member Jagadish Poojary, taluk panchayat executive official Kiran Fadnekar and others were present.
