Mohammed Shami has denied all the allegations made by Hasin Jahan against him

Mohammed Shami's wife, Hasin Jahan on Thursday, lodged an official complaint against her husband at the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lal Bazaar.

Cops have confirmed the development and are in the process of examining the complaint and materials provided by Jahan.

However, police have not yet lodged a formal FIR against the India fast bowler.

"We have filed complaint on the issue of torture inflicted against my client by Md Shami and his fmaily. Charges are torture, physical abuse, mental harassment

"Being a Indian national cricketer, he has neglected his wife and has not even given minimum maintainance to his wife. My client was waiting till today that Shami will call and resolve the problem...but nothing happened...We hope police will conduct a fair probe.

"Police said in case there is any threat calls made she should inform immediately. On Shami's version that the phone does not belong to him: If the car belongs to him, then whose phone will be in his car?

"Shami is speaking like a politician...rather he should come down, sit before his wife and sort out the differences," Jahan's lawyer told India Today.

Jahan went on record on Wednesday to accuse Shami of having extra-marital affairs with multiple women and also claimed that she was tortured by him and his parents in Amroha.

But while speaking to Aaj Tak on Wednesday, Jahan had clarified that she had visited Lal Bazar to meet some relatives and not to register a formal complaint at the Police headquarters.

"I didn't go to Lal Bazar to lodge a complaint, I had gone there for some work. Someone I know lives there, that is why I went there. There is no connection between my going to Lal Bazar and Mohammed Shami's case," Jahan had claimed.

When asked what her next course of action will be, she said that she will "take legal action" against the fast bowler.

Married to Shami since 2014, Jahan reportedly claimed that the bowler is having several extra-marital affairs simultaneously.

Notably, the post, which was uploaded from an unverified account, was titled as 'Shami's enjoyment' and had several pictures of the pacer's text messages to multiple women.

"Yes, whenever I have gone to UP," Jahan earlier told India Today on being asked whether Shami's family also tortured her.

"You can ask the neighbours how they (Shami's family) behaved with me.

"I was silent because he has been asking for a divorce for two years. He has been torturing me, he tried everything to make me leave him," Jahan added.

Shami on his part, denied all the allegations made by Jahan against him on Thursday.

"I tried contacting my wife and I am ready to apologise to my fans and everyone else if any evidence is found against me," the fast bowler told India Today.

"All these allegations have been made against me without any basis. All these are outside my knowledge so I can't say about it now. We were living together and even celebrated Holi together and we also shopped together even after the South Africa tour.

"I went to Dharamsala to play (Deodhar Trophy) and I heard about all this. Even if I was involved in all this somebody other than my wife would have spoken up. Or some other girl would have complained to my wife about my affair.

"You can check my WhatsApp...all those WhatsApp messages she has shown to the media, that is neither my chat nor my phone number. I am ready to apologise if this case goes in favour of my wife," Shami added.

Meanwhile, Shami told ANI that he had contacted his father-in-law and they had a normal conversation.

"I contacted my father-in-law, he spoke to me very nicely and I think the things will sort out soon," he said.
