Udupi, Aug 22: MP Manorama Madhwaraj announced her moral support to the movement to be carried out against Nagarjuna Thermal Power Plant as pipeline laying work has began illegally at the premises.
"Pipeline work has begun from Ullur to Thenka Yermal by violating the Apex Court Order and laws. We have complained to the district commissioner against the development. But it has not yielded any result. District commissioner is acting like the agent of the government," she said.
Manorama told reporters that local MLA was active in protest against Nagarjuna earlier to woo the voters. "But now they have backtracked from the movement. This indicates their hypocrisy," she opined at a press conference on Thursday August 21.
Even though the state is being ruled by the BJP government, nothing could done against Nagarjuna project. It is a useless government. Everybody is busy with filling their wallets, she added.
Confessing that the movement has been losing its leaders one by one, she said, "Leaders are busy to get Nagarjuna or Suzlon Company’s contract work. This contract system is well-planned conspiracy to keep away leaders from the movement. But we have been working to create awareness among people against the Nagarjuna project," she said.
She further said that she will continue her fight against Nagarjuna and will stick on to her earlier stand even though her party BJP is ruling in the state.
