Ready to pay any price: JD(U)'s strong message to BJP over Bihar violence

Patna, Mar 30(DC): Facing criticism over the government's inefficiency to control the riots and communal violence in Bihar, the JD(U) on Thursday in a sharp message to the BJP asked the saffdron party to restrain its its leaders who are seen to have contributed to the violence.

Talking to NDTV, JD(U) general secretary Shyam Rajak said, "Nitishji never compromises on the law and order from... and for this, we are willing to pay any price".

Earlier in March, Nitish Kumar had voiced his discomfort with ally BJP saying that he would not compromise with those trying to divide the society.

"Please remember, neither did I compromise with corruption, nor I will compromise with those trying to divide the society. I'm for complete communal and social peace... I want to make it clear that this country will march ahead on the basis of love, compassion and communal harmony," he said.

Nitish Kumar had formed an alliance with the BJP last year after dumping Lalu Yadav-led JD(U) and the Congress.

Communal clashes have been reported from various parts of Bihar in the recent past, with opposition parties like the RJD and the Congress accusing the BJP of inciting violence and charging JD(U) president and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with being "helpless" before the coalition partner.

RJD supremo and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav after being brought to Delhi for treatment at AIIMS on Thursday had said that "Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is now finished".

Pointing out the riots and incidents of violence in Bihar, Lalu Yadav said that the "BJP has set the whole state ablaze".

According to PTI, members of two communities clashed on Wednesday over taking out a religious procession in Bihar's Nalanda district, leaving more than 20 persons, including four security personnel, injured.

Nalanda is the native district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Communal clashes have erupted in several districts in the state since Ram Navami last Sunday.

communal clashes took place in Bihar too during this year’s Ram Navami celebrations. It’s no coincidence that Bihar, which did not witness a single incident of communal riots during the 15 years of the RJD’s rule, is on the boil again. And, desperate attempts to divide the communities are being made by the supporters of the ruling BJP in the state. A master strategist that he is, it seems PM Modi has clearly taken a leaf out of his infamous Gujarat Model book. Just like he strengthened his grip over power as chief minister in Gujarat through a mass anti-Muslim genocide in 2002, his trusted lieutenants appeared to have been instructed to follow the same ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha polls next year by instilling fear among Muslims in India.

Or else, how do you explain the state government’s utter silence to a union minister’s son openly violating the court’s arrest warrant for inciting communal tension as was the case with Ashwini Kumar Chaube’s son, Arjit Shashwat.
This was then followed up by Hindutva goons attacking a mosque in Samastipur, where they burnt a local madrasa, burnt the copies of Quran and hoisted a saffron flag atop the local mosque.

With judiciary severely compromised, media’s independence bought and opposition crippled, Modi knows that intimidating Muslims coupled with raising the Hindutva pitch in the name of Lord Ram will help masses forget his incredibly deplorable governance, which has miserably failed on all fronts in the last four years.

For the greed of power he left the 'Mahagathbandhan'. He pushed his own friend to jail once represented Janata party. Though Nitish Kumar is Chief Minister of the state BJP is ruling. It may be late call for Nitish who has certainly have to pay heavy price if he state goes to the polls and Lalu in jail will make the things worst for Bihari's.
Lord Ram and BJP’s politics in Asansol and Samastipur communal clashes, burning West Bengal and Bihar is nothing but continuation of 'Gujarat Model'.

JDU should not just give lip service like how the Shiv Sena does. Shiv Sena on one hand criticizes the Modi government and the BJP but on the other hand cling to their ministerial posts at the centre and still stay in the NDA alliance. Shiv Sena are an opportunistic party but we expect better from JDU's Nitish Kumar who seems to still have more than just a modicum of respect for secularism and communal harmony.
Walk the talk like TDP head N. Chandrababu Naidu. Be a man of your word or else the next time the RJD will be back in Bihar with a resounding victory.
