Kundapur: Fighting election compromises with nobility of seers - Pejawar Swamiji

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Apr 10: "If spiritual heads of Maths become politicians and enter the houses of power, their loftiness gets compromised. Swamijis who win elections are compelled to work under the instructions of some political party. They have no right to violate whip issued by the party. This dents the nobility of the Swamijis," felt Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.

He was responding to a question by a reporter whether he would support the candidature of Shiroor Math Swamiji if the latter chooses to fight coming election, on Monday April l9.

"I had said in the past that anyone who supports Hindutva will have my support. But in a democratic system, as compared to individuals, parties reign supreme and their supremacy cannot be undermined. Anyone who fights election independently and gets elected cannot do much on his own. Support of parties is very much needed for the protection of Hindutva. At the same time, fighting the election is the independent decision of Shiroor Swamiji and I have nothing to say in the matter," he clarified.

Dispite having great respect on swamiji, I don't agree with his views. If swamiji's intention is good then why he can't stand for election. Mahatma Gandhi was a solicitor, does it mean that he supported criminals.our religious leaders need to start new movement to clean up dirty politics and corrupt media. I still don't understand what is difference between Hinduthva and Hinduism.is our nation come first or our religion.

You clearly don't have the understanding of how a democracy should work. Having religious heads contesting in an election in one of the worst things that you would ever ask for in a democracy.

Eg: Iran is ruled by a religious leader. so how are the conditions of there?

Religious leaders interested in joining the politics, because most of the Indian politicians have super power, they are above the law, they can do whatever they want and they can speak whatever they like. God save our India.

Pejawar Swamiji said" I had said in the past that anyone who supports Hindutva will have my support.

According to Hindutva: why is the Swamiji silent to cow slaughter by export-oriented units in the guise of buffalo meat?

Why can't he raise his voice against bjp / modi when bjp receive a donation from beef exporting units belonging to Hindus.

    Why this double speak.

Dear brother Hinduthva and Hindu is different. Naturally majority of Brahmins will support Hindutwa as RSS is their patron. When Adithyanath and other swamees contested there was no problem for this seer. Also when swamees where made minister in Madhya Pradesh he had no objection. But when a Swami wanted to contest against BJP he came out with the pretext of Nobleness.

Pejawar swamiji is highly respected swamiji in the world. being a senior swamiji he is the ultimate role model for swamiji's. People of udupi specially love him knowing him almost seven decades 70 years. he has all the right to guide the junior swamiji's so the great udupi sanctity stays forever. like elsewhere udupi also goes through some turmoils every now & then. All the politicians come to this swamiji for blessings & guidance. present time open media era people of Udupi don't like political interference & one sided opinion of Pejawar swamiji. But people give respect for his phita ,his age & his service given to the people of Udupi. if you meet him , those who hate him also will Love him. you will see a innocent child in this swamiji. if you know the swamiji's of udupi then you will never call any swami'js in India as swami's. this timePejawar swamiji's advise is a correct one which all of us agree. we dont like Udupi swamij's contesting elections & become a Joke.

believing any faith & converting 2 any faith likened by a human & converting or embracing one's faith is a fundamental human right.eating vegetarian or non- vegetarian is a fundamental human right. God approves both.swamiji's or mulla's should not make compulsion.

All drama is on during election. The Seer has no power to control on junior Seer.
The term hindutva is creating this havoc.

All was well without the term Hindutva.

    Dear Respected Swamiji

    Namaskar.

Why this double standard? Its because Shiroor seer wanted to contest either in BJP ticket and if not succeed in getting BJP ticket then he will contest as indpendant candidate, which shall surely hit on BJP
    vote bank.
Why didnt you speak when the present CM of UP contested elections and won 5 times from Gorakhpur. He is the head of the temple in UP.. there are many seers who are MPs and MLAs . what do you have to say about them. Recently the MP govt gave ministerial status to 5 babas,, why didnt you object.

    Why this kolaveri now.
I wish you good health and long life so that we get controversial statements from you on and off and it will be a good time pass for us

    kind regards

    @Shanawaz,

One sadhvi belonging to sanskari party BJp even said that "Either you are Ramzaade or You are Haraamzaade"- But our respected swamy had no comments.

But how fighting election compromises with the nobility of the seers?. If anyone contests election for the purpose of serving the people then that is also a noble job. Isn't it?

Absolutely correct views by Sri Pejawar Swamiji. He is a person who commands respect from people of all religions for his reasonable and just statements. Politics should be kept beyond the purview of religion. Swamis, priests or mullahs are expected to follow the path of justice, equality and nobility with service to humanity as their guiding force whereas the politicians, save a few, are rogues of the highest order who are there to feather their own nest.

Swamiji's explanation for 'fighting election compromises with nobility of seers' is not satisfactory.
What is wrong if religious heads become the part of political spectrum? If only he follows other politicians in lies and corruption, his nobility will be compromised.
Moreover, who are political parties to protect Hindutwa? It is my blood and as long as I hold it tight, no one can damage it. Does 'protection of Hindutwa' mean being intolerant to other religions?
